Eirenaios Phōkas (eye-reh-NAY-ohs FOH-kahs)

First Voice of Hellas (Current)

Eirenaios Phōkas was born into a Greek-Syrian household in Antioch, a city where streets hum with philosophy as much as commerce. Identified young for his aptitude in logic and mediation, he was raised within the Whisper schools, where debate and dialogue shaped his daily rhythm. His teachers noted that even as a child he preferred to listen before speaking, carefully weighing the balance of arguments. When he finally offered words, they were sharp, deliberate, and often surprising in their clarity.   Now in his early forties and newly serving as First Voice, Eirenaios is seen as both scholarly and approachable. Outside the council chambers, he maintains a small circle of friends with whom he shares long meals, music, and philosophical games that continue into the night. His personal relationships are fluid: a bond with a poet who travels often, a long companionship with a fellow Whisper who chose not to ascend, and a deep filial devotion to his extended family who still live in the neighborhoods of Antioch.   His hobbies reflect a love of memory and preservation. He is an avid collector of manuscripts, but not in the sense of hoarding — he believes every text is meant to be read aloud, to live again in the breath of a community. Those close to him know that he has also taken to gardening on the council’s terraces, tending fig and olive trees as a way of grounding himself after long sessions. He often remarks that to prune a branch is to practice governance: cutting carefully to allow fuller growth.
