Giant’s Causeway

Along the coast, the sea withdraws to reveal hexagonal columns of basalt, stacked like a staircase descending into myth. Legend says giants built it; geology calls it cooling lava made articulate. Both explanations honor wonder.   Scientists bring students here to see pattern emerging from chaos - mathematics born from molten chance. The symmetry is not perfect, yet its imperfections feel deliberate, as though the earth itself were practicing design.   In local lore, the Causeway represents friendship between nations divided by water: stones bridging what history once fractured. It is less mythic battle site than perpetual handshake in stone.
