Animism


The belief that all things have some form of spirit or spririt guide within them. There are still a large number of the population that hold this belief and are deeply devoted to it. The priests and shaman who follow this belief are able to cast spells of 1st level and they will always have full effect/damage based on their and Saving Throws will only reduce any damage by 25%.

A Word or Two About Places of Worship & Devotion

Places of worship come in all shapes and sizes, not unlike your world. There are some accepted classifications of these hallowed places.
  • Shrine
  • This can be anything a full sized statue in a clearing to a stack of stones in the middle of a forest or even desert
  • It is very possible that coming up on one of these there will be either a worshiper or three, or even an acolyte tending to it under the tutelage of a priest.
  • Temple
  • These structures have a large open space for all to come and worship, render sacrifices, or leave offerings
  • Temples will have at least one priest living on or near the temple. There will also be at least 1-4 acolytes or acolytes in training also residing on the temple grounds
  • Church
  • These buildings are usually fully enclosed but modest in size and decoration. Here the priest and acolytes proselytize all that is Aria and zir pantheon. Different churches hold regular sermons and teachings based on their patron. e.g. Gadmere at night, Nefeder in the middle of the day or sunrise, etc. Normally holding up to about 20-50 people
  • A priest, priest in training and their support acolytes live here, this is their home, and they not only maintain but also defend this area. They will defend it to the death if necessary or defend it to the laws of their faith
  • Cathedrals
  • These immense and elaborate structures are created and built to show the masses the devotion of faith to their respective patrons. The monuments to the faith also can denote the influence the faith has in a particular area. It will normally take years to decades to build and perfect. Some cathedrals can hold only up to 100 worshipers and there are those that can hold over 500.
  • There will always be a high priest, an entourage of priests and a fair amount of acolytes.
