Jelligul (dʒɛl ɪ' gʌl)

Symbols:

A harp or a lute

Physical Form Appearance:

She is sometimes seen as ‘flighty’ and always has a ‘dreamy’ look on her face. She always has a smile on her face and will always look straight at whomever she is talking to. Her appearance is generally androgynous but always bearing striking features for both genders.

Personality/Demeanor

She will always show caring and love for any creature human or not and will genuinely care about their well being. It can only really take a god/dess to raise her ire, but once it has been done, there is little anyone can do to prevent the retaliation of ‘love scorned’. And this can last for years, decades or even longer based on the act or inaction. Any mortal in her presence regardless of the visage she is portraying, at the minimum they will be in awe of her and will want to pronounce their devotion and undying love for her. She can produce a huge maul that can either knock someone one unconscious for 2d10 days and during that time they dream about a lost love or an unrequited love interest, where they spend seemly a lifetime together, and when they wake up they feel the loss. Perception, Dexterity, and Intelligence are all at -3 for 2d6 day or hit them and they turn overly affectionate, everything is beautiful, all creatures are friends to be doted on, basically they are lovesick. Perception, Dexterity, and Intelligence are all at -3 for 2d6 days, there is no saving throw for either of these “love taps”.

History/Ascension:

Twin sister to Faltala

Divine Powers:

  • True Love’s Heart – This allows the deity to know who the recipient’s true love is. This is not always a romantic love but could also be a love of one’s “brother” or “sister”, a family member, or even someone they have not yet met. This is the person they are truly devoted to, they would lay down their life for this person, without question or hesitation. She may tell the recipient who it is, by name or description, but not where they are. e.g. Love’s heart resides with your brother in arms with the scars of a long life and sad eyes.
  • Love’s Longing – Jelligul can remove the longing one would have for another loved one. This becomes a one-sided love. Nothing will make the other return or even acknowledge the love of another. This will always end badly.
  • Apathetic Heart – This causes the recipient(s) to lose all love interest in a person, a group, or even a cause. They truly don’t care about the interest, regardless of their actions or attempts to persuade, sway, or even if they bestow gifts or offerings. This cannot directly effect a deity but she can effect their followers albeit it becomes a test of wills and primal, but it is possible. e.g. Jorron saves an entire village for the love of one if it’s residents, Maia. Maia’s response, “Well isn’t that what you defenders are supposed to do!” and then walks away. e.g. Kilas has been building a following for the Love of Jelligul, he’s actually been building a harem of slaves. Jelligul recognizing the lie that he’s creating and causes all those that see him now to simply ignore him and his teachings, even those that were blindly devoted to him.

    Love

    Artifacts

Jelligul has a book that initially when opened appears to have 50 blank pages, with the faint aroma of spring flowers and fresh rain. When someone starts to write in the book it will imbue the writer with the deepest feelings they have about their love interest. If the possessor of the book cannot read or write, it will ‘write’ for them in pictures, these however will be a perfect likeness of their descriptions. This could be a person or a cause, regardless, if these written words are read out loud to the subject of the writing they will disappear from the pages, they can be rewritten but they will never seem to have the same intensity as if they were first written and reading them aloud will not produce the same emotional result. If the writer fills all 50 pages the book will turn into a normal book and the writings are permanent. If the book is kept secret for the life of the writer when they die it will disappear and appear in the belongings of the subject. If the subject or cause is no longer alive, then it is left to chance to be found or forever lost. There is a very small chance 1-3% that if it is a true masterwork, Jelligul will ‘rescue’ it and it will be ‘discovered’ by some wandering bard. As long as the bard gives credit to the original writer, the book will stay in their possession unless they lie about the author, the book will immediately burst into flames.
