Personality/Demeanor:

History/Ascension:

Born to the aristocracy – she was supposed to be heir to the local throne. She spent much of her childhood on adventures; as she called them. She would venture out of her safe and secured home to see what the world was like outside among the people. This was much to the stress of her parents, minders, and keepers, but no matter where she was found or where she would have returned from she never seemed to have any harm befall her. There were numerous close calls and near brushes with her demise and this did very little to diminish her curiosity of the rest of the world. Her impulsiveness would get her into the most difficult situations but she would somehow escape them unscathed.   One story that has been told over many generations and most assuredly has been embellished, and started about her in her 10th year. Once again, she slipped out of her home unseen and ventured off into the local town. She somehow wandered into the middle of the camp of a band of brigands that were actually bent on not only removing the current magistrate; her father from power but to remove his entire family. Initially, they didn't realize that she was in the woods with them until she stood at the campfire light and announced that she was going to tell her father about their scheme. One of the brigands apparently fired an arrow at her, but she tripped on a root at just the moment the arrow was let loose and it buried itself into the tree she was just standing in front of. This did however give them the opportunity they needed to grab her and bound her until they decided whether to kill her or use her as ransom. Initially, since the first attempt to put her down failed, several of the members were all for completing the effort and the remaining members wanted to save her for a huge ransom and still be able to remove her family from power and from living. An argument ensued over what they would do and which one would provide them with the best results, the argument escalated into trading blows and then moved to the drawing of daggers and swords. The men fought for a long while eventually all but one was left standing and he had been wounded so badly that he did not survive long to enjoy his victory. So all she had to do was go over to where one of the blades was and cut her hands free and run home to tell her father.   Just before the opening of the dawn light, she made her way back to her home, only to find that her family had been murdered in their sleep; the guards were completely unaware until the servants went into their chambers. They were shocked to see Dorgana awake and alive in her room when they came in panicked, thinking that she had also been killed. The servants, knowing that she’s the last heir to their throne, felt it best that she be hidden away and come back when she can truly take control. Her nanny (whose name is lost to antiquity) that had been taking care of her since birth, decided that she would help her escape the city. They made it out of the city unnoticed and to her nanny’s old home that she had left a decade ago to take care of Dorgana. The old house in the woods, half buried in the side of a hill was still in pretty good shape, well overgrown but still very livable and with all the overgrowth, well hidden. She spent five years here, feeling the guilt of her parent’s death, the fact that she had to give up her home, and the fact that if she had not snuck out of her home that night she may very likely be dead. Her nanny taught her how to find food in the woods, how to haggle and shop and she learned dozens of different disguises so she could go into the towns unrecognized. Her nanny found that Dorgana had a knack for what seemed to be being at the right place at the right time or finding a “lost” coin in the cracks of the cobblestones of the market street.   There were stories told of her catching a street gambler cheating and in the ensuing fight and entropy, she walked away with no less than (so the story goes) 50 gold pieces and a small handful of pretty expensive gems. The story of one of the brigands that had killed her family cornered her in an alleyway; not realizing who she was but just someone else that he could make an easy coin from by robbery on her way back from the market, when someone from a second-floor window accidentally dropping a good sized chest directly on him, killing him instantly. Stories like these seemed to be told time and time again about Dorgana, one day she had returned back to her nanny’s home to find an odd-looking man wearing a glistening breastplate with a sigil of balanced scales on it. Scared that this person might be someone that worked for the street gambler and come to take back what she had picked up from the ensuing small riot. She raced towards him with nothing more than just a piece of wood she had picked up from the forest floor. She raised it high and she attempted to bring it down on him with all her might. He sidestepped her blow but not before she was blinded by the reflection of the sun off of his armor, causing her to close her eyes and lose her footing somehow she still managed to make contact with the stranger's shoulder before falling to the ground. It may not have been as hard as she wanted to but she felt the resistance from the blow as it hit him. Once she regained her sight and her footing the man looked at her with wide-eyed astonishment.   “Be still child, I’m not here to hurt you or your caretaker”, he said with a voice that sounded like a laugh. “I’ve been watching you most of your life and I see that you’ve become pretty lucky in your life.”   “What do you know of my life!?”, she snarled at him.   “I know that you were lucky enough to not be home when your parents were murdered. I know that you survived being kidnapped by your kidnappers killing each other over what to do about you. I know that you were taken in and hidden by your nanny who’s cared for you most of your life and has never been found by those that want what is rightfully yours. I know that throughout your life, you’ve been lucky enough to find food when needed, find coins when you’re running out, and find just the right people in the crowd to give the best alms when you’ve been begging. I know that no matter the disguise that you wear, no one has recognized you for who you truly are Dorgana, daughter of Edison and Rylie Padapuvetan, heir to the throne of not just the city of Pegi, but of the nation of Pegi”.   She kneeled there dumbfounded, for the first time since she can remember she had nothing to say, no retort, no biting remark, nothing, just breath escaping her lips.   Her nanny not even getting up from her stump, looked at her “daughter” and smiled. “You see child, you have a destiny larger than I could of ever dreamed for you. I’m not getting any younger and eventually, I will not be here to look after you or take care of you, you’ve learned so much from me, but now it’s time that you learned more than I could teach you.”   The man’s voice again almost through a smile, “My name is Nefeder , and I would like to give you a chance to learn more about the world around you and just maybe have the opportunity to move beyond your home, your city, or even your nation.” He held out his hand to her, as she was still kneeling on the ground, and looked at her nanny, tears in her nanny’s eyes.   “Go child, and remember that no matter where you go, as long as you have me here”, as she pointed to her heart, “I will always be with you.”   Before you go, take this,” she handed Dorgana a coin that she had never seen before but inscribed in it, was a saying, “May luck find you no matter which side the coin lands.” She told her that it was her father’s and that he had received it from his father, and that it was one of the first coins ever minted by her distant forefathers, passed down from generation to generation. Dorgana took the coin, tears streaming down her face hugged her nanny, and kissed her on the cheek.   When Dorgana turned around she saw a woman standing next to Nefeder, dressed in a chain mail shirt that had what looked like hair woven into it, polished grieves, and bracers. She was tall and had piercing blue eyes and silver-white hair tied into a tight braid with dark leather straps. Nefeder told Dorgana, don’t worry, she’s here to protect her to her last breath and no harm shall befall her before it is her time to go. And with that, she left heavy-hearted but at the same time excited about what lay ahead of her and what was she going to learn from this man who always seemed to have a smile and the sun always seemed to shine just a little brighter off of him.
