Guide for new Royal Mathematicians and visitors

Welcome to the Headquarters of the Royal Mathematicians. Here are everything you need to know before visiting our August Body.

Role of the building

The main role of our headquarters is obviously to house the Royal Mathematicians' offices and our archives. It also offers meeting and reception rooms where we can welcome His Majesty, members of the government, and Royal Councilmen to discuss of titanic architecture projects and potential commissions.   The setup of the building is going to be different from what you are used to, as it has been especially adapted to the needs of our mathematicians.

Plans

Floor 0: This is where you will enter the building. Immediately present yourself at the reception to be welcome and receive a guide. This floor is also where all our public areas are located, with one small and one large reception rooms. There are also our kitchen and dining room, including a private dining room for entertaining guests or discussing projects between colleagues around a meal.   Floor -1: This floor contains the bigger theatre of the building and is likely to be where you are heading to listen to a special lecture by our mathematicians!
The rest of the floor is filled with workshops of different sizes. They all contain work benches and state-of-the-art heavy-work devices. The reserve also found on this floor is filled with a huge range of materials. This is the perfect place for our mathematicians to have a change of pace, to enjoy a bit of manual work while their brain continue to examine their current project under a new angle. They usually come here to test some aspects of a project by building parts of device or even an entire cube of a clippable device.   Floor -2: This floor is entirely filled with the archives of all the projects done by Royal Mathematicians over the past centuries. As many of them are still state secrets, anyone outside of the Institution of Royal Mathematicians must petition His Majesty for the permission to peruse them.   Floor 1: This floor is made of two large open spaces where lower ranking mathematicians can all work together to promote a highly collaborative atmosphere. Each mathematician has a desk and their own blackboard. However, do not worry, each also have their own silence ward when they need to focus properly! This floor also contains an open presentation space made of circles of seats rising around a blackboard; the perfect setup for impromptu discussions when people are discussing too passionately to get into a meeting room.   Floor 2 and floor 3: These floors are filled with private office rooms for the higher ranking mathematicians. Each comes with a desk, a set of bookshelves, and a blackboard. Several also have a small sitting area with a couple of chairs and a low table so that you can conduct confidential meetings in full confidence!

History

The headquarters and nearby Royal Palace are nodes in the titanic architecture design that protect the entire country. This means that when our mathematicians invented this technology and were first learning its strengths and weaknesses, the buildings were destroyed several times! However, you do not need to worry, as this happened long ago; the current headquarters building are centuries-old and are at no risk of being threatened by anyone!

Thanks to the amendment His Majesty King Vendelin made to the Royal Charter governing the Institution of Royal Mathematicians, and as thanks for our many accomplishments, a bridge has been built between our headquarters and the neighbouring Royal Palace. However, be warned that this bridge is only to be used by His Majesty himself, Royal Mathematicians, and Royal Councilmen.

Of note, both our headquarters and the Royal Palace are the best place in all of Milara to admire abstract art pieces that have been designed by past Royal Mathematicians to show off their incredible skills. Do not forget to look around you while walk visiting the building to see what incredible masterpiece you can spot!

Bonus perks

Royal Mathematicians are cherished by the crown, and so have an abundance of methods to relax. The most appreciated is our special access to the royal gardens. The area below the bridge linking our headquarters to the palace are traditionally considered as ours and contain many benches surrounded by wonderful parterres of flowers. As a guest, you might also be able to enjoy them with your hosts.

However, the most important thing you need to concern yourself with before leaving the building is to find our office cat! Just look at where our mathematicians are gathered; if this is not around a blackboard, you can be sure that The Void is nearby! Everyone loves to cuddle and play with him to relax their brain, as well as to feed some sweet rivalries between colleagues to determine who is going to become The Favourite this day. See if you can steal the title from them!
