Information: WFH-331 is the designated heir of the Wolfhelm Clan, and is next in line to drink the blood of Leto. Subject is currently indecisive about whether to perform the bloodright. On the chance it happens, precautions are already being taken to prevent another incident similar to what happened with HUM-WFH-330.

WFH-331 is a member of the Foundation, Field Agent #: 6893, Rank F.

Because Zack is uncommitted to drinking the Bloodright of Leto and become a fully powered werewolf, his mother Ada sent him to America to finish his schooling, where he started attending Manalith Academy in Mystic, CT as a second year student. He performed fine with his schooling, averaging a high B to low A grade in all subjects.

When not at school, he spent quite a bit of time with his older brother William, and trained with him at William's Fencing School in Westerly, RI. Because of this, Zack is quite good at swordsmanship, knowing advanced levels of both Fencing and HEMA. During the following summer, Zack was recruited by the The Foundation on recommendation from his older brother. He successfully went through the summer program and is now a field agent with the organization. He does missions on the weekends whenever they come up.

In America there are not a lot of werewolves, and most are depowered thanks to a major past event. The reason Ada sent Zack to America was to isolate him from other werewolves. Zack is significantly more physically powerful than anyone around except certain vampires and he know it, but he will lose this strength in a few years if he refuses to drink the Blood of Leto. Zack has seen how much weaker his brother has become since refusing the bloodright and doesn't want to end up like that.

On the other hand, Zack was present at his older sister's bloodright. Iris drank the blood of Leto, succumbed to the Lunatic Cry, and almost immediately went feral, murdering several nearby non-werewolves. Iris was captured and contained, but never recovered from her desire to kill. The opposite states of his two siblings has made him quite indecisive about what to do. He is set to do the ritual next year.

At the start of his third year in highschool, Zack is unsure what to do. Luckily for him, there is no shortage of rogue spirits and other entities roaming the Earth and the Foundation has no shortage of missions for him to take destroying those things. Zack would rather do that, or literally anything else then dwell on family drama for now.

Interests

Zack used to watch a lot of anime with Iris in the past. Like most teens, he has played various videogames, some quite excessively, with his favorite being souls-likes. Zack also loves his history, especially when it comes to stories about legendary weapons. Whether it's King Arthur's Excalibur or a more obscure sword like Rhydderch Hael's Dyrnwyn, Zack has read about them all and he owns numerous books on the subject. History also happens to be Zack's favorite subject in school, though he could do with less of Dusk's long monologues about the past as if she was there...

Swords

Zack has always loved swords and sword fighting. His brother taught him both Fencing and HEMA (Historic European Martial Arts). Zack was a member of Manalith's Fencing Team, which still annoys several vampires. When Zack turned 16, he received William's Sword Dimension as a gift. Zack has filled the room with numerous swords already in just over a year, including the 'Legendary' Knightbrand, as well as various longswords, scimitars, rapiers, and sabers.

Most of the swords that Zack uses in combat when on DDDF missions are quite heavy, often far too heavy for the average person to pick up, let alone swing without tearing their muscles apart. Zack is very skilled with swords, but often he just hits the problem really, really hard, and that's usually more than enough. He does it to the point that he is criticized in mission assessments for it.

Out of combat is a different story. When doing sports in general, Werewolves (and other bloodlines with superhuman strength) have to take a potion that lowers their strength and speed to a maximum threshold, making the contest more about skill than physical ability. Even then, Zack has been to regional competitions and has taken home several titles.

"Use my claws and my teeth in combat? Rem, what the hell?!? I might be a 'werewolf' but that doesn't mean I can just turn into a wolf on a whim! Why don't you shapeshift into a dragon or something?"

"Besides, it's fun annoying vampires who think they're the only ones 'refined' enough to enjoy sports about beating each other senseless with metal weapons!"

Ada
Zack's Father
Will

Other siblings

Ada Rosenrune

Zack's Mother. Ada somehow gained control of the Wolfhelm Clan and seems to only be concerned with gaining an heir that doesn't fall to the Lunatic Cry. Zack and Will know their mother experimented with the Blood of Leto before giving it to Iris in some way, but they aren't sure of what happened yet. It's part of the reason Zack joined the DDDF, in the hopes of uncovering answers.

"Mother... you did something to Iris, that much I can tell. Are you planning to do the same to me if I go through with the Bloodright? And what then? You'll have your heir and someone who can challenge you directly. There has to be something else going on here..."

Zack's Father

Zack's Father is a mysterious man of English origin. Will figured out some details of who their father really was by snooping around the Foundation database and learned that he was born in 1899 and died in 1963, decades before they were born. It's a mystery they don't have answers to for now, and no one is willing to give. Their mother always changes the subject when asked.

"I was born over 40 years after my father's death, somehow? All I know about him is that his name was William Zachary Smith. My Brother thinks that our mother keeps genetic samples of him frozen somewhere... There must be something special about him that my mother wants to take advantage of. Not sure what..."

Will

An A-Rank Research Agent at the DDDF. Will taught Zack how to use swords and pushed him to join the Foundation, then they could find answers to their messed up family together. Since joining though, Zack and his brother became distant, with Will still digging for answers and Zack slashing at whatever moves during the missions he's assigned to.

"My brother is more concerned with finding answers to what happened to our sister than finding her. He definitely isn't strong enough to confront Mother about it directly any more. And in two years neither will I... Should I confront her directly now? I don't know. Will tells me to be patient, and I suppose I am for now."

Iris

Zack's older sister. Iris was always easygoing and gentle, but she also always looked forward to taking on the Bloodright. After she succumbed to the Lunatic Cry, she was placed in a holding facility until she escaped several months ago. Her whereabouts are unknown.

"I can't stand how weak my brother has become, but there is something about watching your sister lose her mind and murder several people in front of you that makes you reconsider your future. She was as gentle as the flower she's named after, but then something flipped like a switch..."

Other Siblings

Zack has four other siblings, Adrian (born 1943), Agnes (1948), Conrad (1954), Felix (1961). They were all born between the 40's and early 60's. All of them took on the bloodright and all of them fell to the Lunatic Cry and had to be imprisoned and put down. All Zack knows about them are their names and their dates of birth.

"That phrase... 'Put Down'... My mother uses it when she talks about ending the life of feral werewolves, like they are nothing but rabid dogs and need to be put out of their misery. It makes me sick whenever she mentions it. For some reason, she didn't... 'Put Down' Iris, instead opting to put her in a containment facility.... WHY!?!"

Other notes

  • Zack and Tina are said to hate each other and publicly they do. Privately or when among friends, they are completely different.
  • His current girlfriend is Anemone. They met over a year ago and started dating when Zack was going through the Foundation's Assessment testing to become an Agent.

  • Being one of the only werewolves enrolled in Manalith has gotten Zack quite a few enemies, mostly vampires who had little respect for him to begin with. Many of the School's vampires are still annoyed that Zack, a werewolf, would dare join the school's fencing team.
  • Zack quit the Fencing Team after getting a regional first place win last year. There were a number of rumors circulating around involving him and the first place winner on the girl's team. He quit to stop those rumors only to later learn that the girl also quit.

  • The first time Alucard and Zack met, they got in a fist fight that ended in one getting a broken arm and the other a shattered collarbone. Despite students making bets on when they'll finally settle their score, the two prefer to avoid each other.

"What is my favorite sword? That's a hard one... I guess the fiery sword Dyrnwyn. The entire blade will blaze with fire when drawn by a worthy person. You have no idea how cool that is! Have you heard of it? It's one of the Thirteen treasures of Britain, wielded by Rhydderch Hael the Generous! I mean it's no Excalibur, but it's..."
    ((...I regret asking now...))
  • Zack's speech lacks refinement, but he isn't particularly foul mouthed. He would prefer to walk away from an argument.
  • Zack can speak English and German rather well, as well Italian (specifically with a Venetian dialect). He knows just enough Spanish to know when Tina is saying something about him...

  • Zack's views on religion are complicated and he would rather not talk about it at all.
  • The Wolfhelms worship Leto exclusively as their goddess, while other werewolf clans simply revere her as a saint, who grants their bloodlines power through the grace of God. Then there is his mother who fancies herself a Goddess and the second coming of Leto. And then there is the whole Iris losing herself to the Lunatic Cry thing and being strangely devoted to their mother.

  • Zack never shortened his full name to Zack until he moved to the states and got tired of correcting people.
  • Most people also incorrectly assume his last name is "Wolfhelm" and not "Rosenrune".
