Information: HUM-GGN-012 is the first Gorgon in nearly a hundred years to be publicly seen outside the Ophion Enclave under Greece. She was promised the ability to see the world fully someday. Someday, being dependent on if her bloodline's special ability can be dealt with in some way.
Gorgons were cursed by the Goddess Athena in ancient times, causing them to petrify anyone they make eye contact with. While in current times, this can be reversed through several different magical methods, in the past this was incurable. The people of Greece responded by hunting them to near extinction. The surviving Gorgons took shelter in the caverns below Greece and formed a society known as the Ophion Enclave. They were rarely seen since.
Kalista gets around her curse by wearing an enchanted blindfold that covers her eyes but still allows her to see about twenty-five meters in front of her. The enchantment gives her primitive vision only, seeing only in black and white, though normally she has full color vision that is quite sharp. Wearing the blindfold was a condition of her being allowed to leave the Ophion Enclave. She is never allowed to remove the it unless in private.
The other details of how Kalista ended up living on the surface world are unknown, except that the Ophion Enclave isn't doing very well right now. Kalista doesn't talk about it, and is instead more concerned with her studies at Manalith. She is a 10th grade student and excels at auramancy and literature. Her best subject is astronomy despite having lived most of her life underground.
Kalista likes finding a quiet location in the woods around Manalith so she can take off her blindfold and look up in the sky, where she will stare for hours. She has been caught violating the Dorm curfew multiple times, but is usually let off due to her circumstances. She will also spend time at the Dryad Grove just off campus, where the overwhelming influence of their mana cancels out most bloodline abilities, including Kalista's curse.
Most students avoid Kalista and she has few friends. Despite strange bloodline abilities being an everyday occurrence for most people, not being able to see her eyes and knowing what she can do with them is offputting.
