Place of Birth: Seattle, Washington State
Date of Birth: September 13th
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Bloodline: Fire/Water Elemental

Information: "Steam Elementals" are impossible, not because of the nature of fire and water magic, but due to both bloodlines occupying the same space in a person's DNA sequence. HUM-FRW-001 is the only one known and seems to be a perfectly stable sixteen year old girl. There are reports of heightened spirit activity around HUM-FRW-001, though with the current situation around the world, this might be unrelated. More research is required before a threat level determination can be made.

Between Leena's fleeting personality and the fact she is said to be a literal impossibility, she is a person that most people keep at arm's length. She grew up in Washington State in various areas around Seattle and Tachoma. She was passed between foster parents by the state who didn't really know what to do with her. Water Elementals hates Leena's fire aspect and Fire Elementals hates her water aspect. Passing her to a non-elemental household often caused more trouble than it was worth.

Leena was never a problem child growing up, she was just different. Her attention always shifted around and she always talked about people in a very matter-of-factly way, which made her enemies wherever she went. Her inevitable emotional outbursts from people bullying her would randomly create damaging firestorms or waterspouts and no one was really sure how to handle her.

Despite not having the best of grades and never paying much attention in school, she was accepted to Manalith Academy when she was fifteen. Leena never recalled even applying for a stupid school that was across the country, but didn't have much choice in the matter. The State of Washington was quite happy to be rid of her when she became Connecticut's problem!

The first week Leena was at Manalith, she joined the anime club, and somehow became friends with Anemone, who as a wind elemental had a somewhat fleeting personality herself. Anemone, being much more in control of her random nature was keeping Leena in check too. Leena for the first time in her life wasn't kept at arms length by someone and wasn't bullied. She also somehow became friends with the vampire princess Tina and an ice elemental named Sakura, though they are sometimes quite annoyed but tolerant of Leena's personality.

All of the students at Manalith think Leena is a little weird but still well withing the threshold of normal. If only they were aware of what she was. If only they knew what being an impossible "un-being" that shouldn't be alive really meant...

"Why is there always Sooo much freakin' drama with everyone? Between Wolfie and Princess Canary, and your stupid virus, there's enough to talk about, but then there's the juicy revelation that Rachel has a secret, that she's actually R--"

".... Okay, fine! I'll be quiet about it! Jeeze! My point is, I'm drama free! Maybe! Mostly! Definitely!"

Interests

Leena's interests have always been somewhat fleeting and she has never stuck to a particular thing for very long. She will read various manga, comics, and novels only to drop them after awhile to boredom, only to pick them up again later. She has several drawing journals, half started, some in watercolors, some in just pencil. She'll play paintball with Remi and Alvin, but isn't much interested in that long term either. Leena also tends to spend a lot of time watching internet videos and scrolling through social media, looking for something that interests her to latch onto.

If there anything Leena likes that she doesn't immediately drop after a few days, it would be video games. In-between classes, Leena can often be found at the Patriot's Arcade just off campus. It doesn't matter if it's a fighting game, racing, dancing, rhythm, or something else, Leena has played them all and has a high score entered on every single machine. In her dorm room are several game consoles, and many dozens of different unstarted games still unopened. Leena has a habit of wanting to 100% the achievements on one game before going to the next.

"My favorite game? Er... All of them?"

Family

Leena has no idea who her real parents are. In Washington, she was a ward of the state and was passed through various families in the foster care system until she was fifteen and was accepted to Manalith Academy in Mystic, Connecticut. Leena has done DNA tests to determine her ancestry and found out that her mother is from the Philippines and Her father was from Sicily. That's all she knows about them and the test is inconclusive about what type of Elemental Leena herself is, with one test saying she was a Fire Elemental and the other saying she was Water... The DNA testing also shows she has no immediate family members, just very distant cousins.

Miss Selini

Althea Selini is an Astronomy and Astrology teacher at Manalith, and a Water Elemental. When Leena moved to Mystic, Selini was made her legal guardian and is responsible for Leena's well being. Leena at first wanted nothing to do with Selini, knowing she was just yet another temporary parental figure told to watch over her by the state. Leena lived in the dorms in her first year at Manalith and interacted with Selini very little, but then had to live at her house over the summer. The two somehow bonded and are seemingly very close now.

"At first, I thought Miss Selini was going to try to be all sappy towards me like half of my foster parents or be a completely uncaring bitch like the other half! But as long as I don't do anything TOO stupid, she doesn't bother me, and is there for me when I need her... Is this what a parent is supposed to be? I never really had one so I don't know!"

Seeing Entropy

Being a being that is not supposed to technically exist, Leena has a special ability that can only be mimicked with rather expensive machinery or excessive amounts of mana. Leena can see states of un-existence, a strange third force of the universe that directly opposes Order and Chaos, the two states of existence. Many have labeled this force of un-existence as Entropy though that is not entirely accurate.

There are a number of "un-beings" that gather enough energy to exist for brief moments before they cease to exist again, Poltergeists are one such "un-being". Leena claims to see much worse things out there, things that regularly tear at the threads of reality, that are forever unsuccessful because they can't exist long enough to undo reality itself. Many organizations on Earth and many different Gods and Demons are all aware of these "un-beings", but aren't particularly worried about all of reality falling apart around them. And on the grand scales of the Cosmos, Perfect Order and Perfect Chaos, probably better described as Symmetry and Asymmetry, are too busying opposing each other to care.

Does Leena tie into all of this in some way? That would require entropy to have a plan, or rather, to exist long enough to have a plan. Most "un-beings" are mindless and don't exist for very long. Leena however has existed for an eternity by comparison. Not only is she aware of other "un-beings", she is also aware of where the Threads of Reality are located, the weak points where existence and non-existence interact. She has always wondered what might happen if she were to pull on one of those threads, what unspeakable things might happen...

"Oh Remi, Maybe I am just a little crazy. If you've seen the things I am forced to see every day, you would be too! No I'm not talking about the dead! Anyone can see spiritual energy with a simple magic spell the same way they can see auras. No, I'm talking about...."
"Nothing!"

"That's, er.... Somethin' about what you jus' said unsettles me Leena! What the hell?!?"
"What? I'm an expert at it! Just forget what I said!" ((I knew she wouldn't understand...))
"I mean, okay... Are ya sure, absolutely sure nothing is bothering you right now?"

Other Notes

  • Leena's personality can best be described as brash, energetic and somewhat random. Her speech is unrefined and her arms have a lot of motion when she talks, often acting out actions as she speaks.
  • Leena is an expert at asking uncomfortable questions and poking people the wrong way until they get angry. She also has an uncontrollable urge to spread around rumors when she hears them.
  • Leena also seems to be completely straightforward and honest to people most of the time. She'll still lie with the best of them, but usually she doesn't hide her opinion.
  • If there is a moment Leena is ever zoned out, it's because she noticed a terrifying abomination trying to tear at one of the Threads of Reality. She knows they are temporary and disappear after a very short time, but she can't help but think about what could happen, or what she might do...

  • Unlike most fire elementals who clearly have more orange to red hair and most water elementals who have more blue hair, Leena's hair is black with the subtlest of blues and reds visible in the shine. Her eyes will still flicker between Red and Blue depending on what element of magic she's casting.
  • Leena doesn't get along very well with either Fire or Water elementals. Both groups consider her to be too, different, to allow into their cliques. Fortunately for Leena, Wind and Ice Elementals seem to love her.

  • Leena is a member of Manalith's anime club, arcade club, book club, and anything else that doesn't require working too hard.
  • Leena is best friends with Paige, one of Manalith's poltergeist servant dolls. She also understands exactly what Paige is trying to say, even though Paige usually only speaks in one or two word sentences.
  • Leena likes wearing gothic clothing, either in a Lolita or old fashioned Victorian style. She doesn't care much that this clothing clashes with her energetic personality. Some vampires even find it adorable.

Still mad she asked about our bra sizes?

I bet Tina's mad about that time Leena asked about Zack, I could feel her turning red from here!

    Tina:

No! Not that! It's just, her questions are just so intrusive and random!
    Anne:

    I think it's funny...

    Remi:

Everyone thinks it's funny Anne, except our Canary Princess!

    Leena:

Oh Sweet! Everyone's here! I heard this hilarious rumor while eavesdropping on Yue and her vampire girlfriends...
