Arcadia
Arcadia is an Outer Plane where absolute order and inherent goodness are perfectly unified—a realm of lawful good alignment where harmony, structure, and benevolence are in balance. It is a place of idealized civilization, where nature and culture are not in conflict but are instead orchestrated into a flawless symphony of purpose and peace.
Arcadia is the ideal of civilization taken to its highest form: just laws, fair governance, community cooperation, and mutual respect. Everyone in Arcadia has a place and a purpose, and all serve the greater good not out of compulsion, but through shared values and civic pride.
Justice in Arcadia is swift, firm, and compassionate. Conflict is rare and resolved with dignity. Laws are not oppressive—they are instruments of harmony, written and upheld in the belief that a well-ordered society promotes peace, fulfillment, and the betterment of all.
Where Mechanus enforces law through mechanism, Arcadia nurtures law through morality. Here, goodness is not spontaneous emotion, but deliberate action—ethical and sustainable. Every citizen, spirit, and divine being is a living part of the plane’s greater purpose.
Arcadia is a vision of utopia, where nature flourishes in step with civilization, and all things serve the common good through structure and shared values. It is a realm of purpose without oppression, law without cruelty, and order upheld not by fear, but by mutual respect. To walk in Arcadia is to feel the world aligned—every stone, leaf, and breath part of something greater, just, and enduring.
Geography
Arcadia’s terrain is a study in perfection and balance. Rolling orchards, manicured fields, and forests of evenly spaced trees stretch in symmetrical rows beneath clear, golden skies. Ruler-straight rivers and streams irrigate fields where crops grow in coordinated cycles. Mountains rise in mathematically predictable clusters, their slopes clad in orderly terraces, and cities gleam like polished gems, arranged with geometric precision and aesthetic harmony.
Every feature of the plane seems deliberately placed—not imposed artificially, but grown or shaped with care to reflect the will of a greater, benevolent order. Seasons change with measured regularity, rainfall is ample and timely, and the very air seems to carry the hum of quiet purpose. Light glows softly, with no harshness or shadow—symbolizing clarity of thought and spirit.
Arcadia once consisted of three layers, but now only one remains, the others having shifted to Mechanus due to creeping rigidity. This remaining layer is vast and varied, yet still displays total harmony—from celestial cities to sylvan woods, all interconnected by perfect roads and ley-lines of divine geometry.
The reduction of Arcadia to one layer serves as a cosmic warning: too much focus on rigid structure, even in the service of good, risks transforming order into tyranny. Arcadia thus exists in a delicate balance, striving always to embody benevolent law without becoming mechanistic control.
Fauna & Flora
Arcadia is home to lawful good deities, celestial beings, exemplars of justice and civic virtue, and mortal petitioners who lived lives of honorable service, responsibility, and community devotion.
Archons and other lawful good outsiders patrol the plane, not as enforcers, but as protectors and guides. Spirits of ancestors, civic-minded angels, and avatars of wise governance dwell here, offering wisdom and insight to travelers.
