Arborea
Arborea, also known as Arvandor to the elves and sometimes called Olympus by ancient mortal traditions, is a vast Outer Plane of passionate chaos, breathtaking natural beauty, and powerful emotion. Aligned with chaotic good, Arborea embodies freedom, joy, inspiration, and intense feeling—a realm where the heart rules over the head, and existence itself is a celebration of life's extremes.
Arborea champions freedom, love, artistic expression, and raw, unfiltered emotion. It is a realm where intuition outweighs logic, and the soul’s call matters more than any law or doctrine. Moral goodness here is personal and expressive—not structured or imposed. As such, Arborea is a place of gods, heroes, artists, and spirits who value individual will, beauty, and conviction.
Though aligned with good, Arborea is not without danger. Its wildness is real—storms can tear the sky, emotions can overwhelm, and unchecked passion can lead to tragedy as easily as triumph. The plane reflects both the splendor and volatility of the heart.
In essence, Arborea is the plane of the soul set free—a place of soaring joy, overwhelming sorrow, radiant love, and righteous fury. It represents the untamed spirit of good, where emotion fuels greatness, and beauty is both sanctuary and strength. To walk in Arborea is to feel alive in every sense, surrounded by a world that sings the song of creation itself.
Geography
Arborea is a plane of exaggerated natural majesty, where every element is turned up to its most awe-inspiring form. Towering craggy mountains reach toward the sky like jagged spires of stone, while canyons and gorges yawn deep and echo with rushing rivers, waterfalls, and songs of distant spirits. The forests of Arborea are filled with immense, ancient trees—some wider than towers, with canopies so thick and high they form entire ecosystems above the ground.
Alongside this wild grandeur are serene and fertile lands: rolling meadows, golden wheat fields, lush orchards, vineyards that stretch across sun-kissed valleys, and groves heavy with fruit and songbirds. Arborea is a plane of contrast—wilderness and cultivation, thunderstorm and sunshine, woven into a unified whole that pulses with life.
The weather is powerful and dramatic, often tied to the emotions or moods of the beings nearby. Rainstorms may be sudden and cathartic, sunsets impossibly vivid, and winds might whisper secrets or howl with abandon. The land itself responds to emotion, art, and beauty, and serves as a canvas for divine passions and mortal dreams alike.
Layers of Arborea
- Arvandor, the first and most well-known layer, is a realm of endless forests, fields, and mountaintops. It is the divine domain of elven gods and other deities of nature, joy, and war.
- Aquallor, the second layer, consists of vast, stormy oceans and fierce, ever-changing weather. It reflects the tempestuous side of emotion and freedom.
- Mithardir, the third and most mysterious layer, is a realm of white sand and ruins, once believed to be the remnants of a forgotten divine civilization—silent and melancholic, representing the fading echo of glory.
Fauna & Flora
Arborea is home to elven deities, celestial beings, spirits of art and love, and good-aligned fey and outsiders who revel in the beauty of existence. Mortals who ascend here after death are often souls who lived lives of great passion, artistry, or love, and are rewarded with eternal joy in a realm that suits their spirit.
The plane is also visited by seekers of wisdom through inspiration, as well as heroes seeking guidance from the gods of valor and compassion who reside here.
