Abyss

The Abyss is the Outer Plane of chaotic evil, a place of infinite depth and unspeakable horror, embodying all that is perverse, brutal, corrupt, and mad. It is not merely a realm of darkness and suffering—it is a churning maelstrom of chaos given form, where the laws of reality bend, twist, and break under the weight of unbridled malevolence. It is where cruelty is purpose, destruction is instinct, and madness is truth.

The Abyss is composed of countless layers, each one a world unto itself—distinct in landscape, atmosphere, and torment, yet all sharing a core essence of chaotic evil. These layers spiral downward seemingly without end, from blasted hellscapes and fetid jungles to twisted cities of bone, oceans of blood, and nightmares shaped into terrain. No two layers are alike, and their number is believed to be infinite, with new ones birthing from the roiling chaos at the plane’s heart.

The geography of the Abyss is mutable and cruel, shifting violently in response to the will of its denizens or the sheer volatility of its nature. Gravity may lurch in impossible directions, skies may bleed fire or howl with sentient winds, and the land itself may rise to swallow the unwary. It is a realm that hates stability and punishes reason.

At the core of its power are the demon lords, ancient and monstrous beings who rule their respective layers with unimaginable cruelty and egotism. Their kingdoms are extensions of their will, shaped by their madness and desires. Conflict among them is constant—endless war, betrayal, and conquest define their existence, and alliances are fleeting at best. The Abyss thrives on this strife, feeding on the hatred, rage, and blood that spills across its layers.

The creatures of the Abyss, most notably demons, are born from the plane itself—raw expressions of chaos and evil. They are as varied as the layers they come from: some are brutish engines of destruction, others insidious corrupters, and still others alien horrors beyond mortal comprehension. They care nothing for law, loyalty, or mercy. Their sole purpose is ruin—of souls, of order, of anything that reflects light or hope.

The Abyss is not merely a place of punishment—it is a crucible of malice, where evil is not refined but unleashed, where the very fabric of existence is torn to shreds and reformed in forms too awful to imagine. It is the ultimate expression of chaos without restraint, a plane of endless suffering and boundless fury, where even the land screams and sanity finds no refuge.

To enter the Abyss is to step into madness incarnate, to face evil in its purest, most anarchic form—and to risk becoming part of it forever.
