Xurzug

Half-veiled by the titanic slabs of upturned lands the result of a cataclysm long since passed, the land of Xurzug represents the least hospitable lands possible within the Westerlands. From the smoke-choked badlands to the mammoth slabs of land-made-mountains called Sundered Xur and the desolate veil of the Ghostlands, Xurzug is a land writ exclusively by third-hand accounts. From Aelven Traders trading with the Ogres of Xurzugan who worship among the twin magma seas of Zandug and Mahg, tales are told of titan's graves revealed in the pockets of the upturned mountains of Xur

Geography

Xurzugan Badlands

Similar in nearly all aspects to Kruzug, the badlands of Xurzugan are an endless expanse of smoke-choked air and jagged rocky soil intersperesed with small patches of desert more akin to the Gap of Khur. Routes carved from these small patches of desert make up the trade routes of which only the hardiest of Aelven trader can travel.

Zandug & Mahg

The twin magma seas of Zandug and Mahg are, like Gromzug to the south, a pair of sea-sized calderas of exposed magma whose heat radiates outwards for hundreds of miles.

Sundered Xur, The Worldrent Mountains

A thousand-mile scar ripped across the world, Sundered Xur is the result of a cataclysm which occurred long ago in the Age of Beasts. It is said in the hushed tones of the village elders and pyromancers of Xurzugan who often speak around the magma seas which flank their tribe that when cataclysm came to the Ogres, the earth shattered in two great slabs and as one end sunk down creating the badlands, another end lifted high into the air crafting miles high cliffs which cast shadow over the Ghostlands.

The Ghostlands

Obscured behind the shadows of Sundered Xur, the eons long since abandoned Ghostlands can be found. Rediscovered by a Neríqani explorer trying to discover a passage in the ice to the other side of the O'nlonan Frostwastes. What was found was a land consumed by silence. Forests of wilted corpse trees give way to stagnant waters and unmoving lakes, all bathed in a shadow that lasts for all but a few hours while the sun sits westward.

No kingdoms nor towns are present in the Ghostlands, nor even wildlife have been observed. Even the ever present hum of insects are absent from the area. What does remain, most unnaturally, are the ruins of keeps, towers and fortifications forgotten by time so long since passed, no man has memory of. Explorers to the region who have dared to visit these ruins give tale of ghosts and spirits, of the prevailing feeling like that of prey stalked by predator and of the maddening silence of the land. In spite of these stories, none have ever been able to find even a hint of those who would haunt the interloping explorers.

The light rises late and dies early in the Ghostlands. I watched my shadow stretch before me while the sun still rode high. The stones hum faintly when the wind passes over them, a tone too low for the ear but felt in the bones. No hawk crosses the air there, neither swallow nor crow. When we made landfall, the hounds fought us when we tried to disembark. It's as though there's something the animals know that we don't or have forgotten...

Fauna & Flora

Stalking the mountainou of Sundered Xur, wild packs of Embrounds can be found. Four legged pack hunters whose impossibly rough hides make them resistant to the terrible heat of the region. A row of black boned spikes jut out of their spines across the length of their backs until the end of their tails,, which with age can also grow similar spikes. These spikes have been observed being used as both crude weapons when the Embround's mouth is full, or when a bone need be broken. Along the sides of their face, a series of webbed tendrils extend from the lower half of their face, radially. When asserting dominance, Male Embrounds have been observed expressing these tendrils. While mostly found in Xurzug, they are not unheard of to be found both within the Gap of Khur, and Kruzug
