Ashorene

The Ashorene is an Island Continent located south of the Claw of Groz Darohm and west of Verraine Forest. To it's Northeast, the Hunolduran Plains and Fell Islands can be found. Ashorene has, since it's discovery, been the site of many calamities tracing all the way back to the first attempt at settling the island with the now abandoned colony of Braddockstown. Due to these, Ashorene has garnered a reputation for being a cursed continent and has largely been avoided save for the boldest explorers. Despite this, it has become home to many Aelves displaced from the Fell Islands following the Second Crusade for the Fell Islands by the Sworn Knights.

The Island of Ashorene is considered sacred among the Fell Islanders as they see the Umbral Fogs that blanket the eastern continent as a relative to their own unique island properties.

Geography

The Western Marshes

Tracing the southern waters of the Sea of Dei Lodahr, the Western Marshes is a swathe of murky lowlands dotted with gnarled tree. Satyrs are said to inhabit the woodlands of the marshes.

The Ashorene Forest

Boreal forests blanket central Ashorene, evergreen trees growing hundreds of feet tall. The Ashorene Forest was the site of Braddockstown, which was settled temporarily by Braddock of Conteign and deserted in 230 when the expedition abandoned the expedition and the continent.

The Eastern Corruption

A cold and dark wind blows over the plagued lands of the Eastern Corruption. Making up the eastern half of the continent, the very grounds itself are drenched in a foulness seem only in the corrupted Blighted Coast or the Poxweald. It is in these desolate lands that ancient stone keeps of unknown architecture have been discovered by Fell Islanders. Made of previously unseen architectural styles and from materials not found in these structures have been nearly entirely reclaimed by the land excepting for broken towers which eclipse the dawn and dusking suns.

Another feature unique to these lands is the Umbral Fogs which have been known to stalk unwary adventurers the way that a beast hunts prey.

The Coast of Amal Aiqua

Permafrost covers the coastal regions of Ashorene before giving way to glaciers nestled along the coasts.

Localized Phenomena

The Umbral Fog is a weather event unique to the Eastern Corruption in Ashorene where a dark mist can gather in the forests and valleys of the land. It was observed during Braddock's Third Expedition that the mist gathers and moves, as if with a malign intelligence moving along against the wind. Approaching creatures sentient or otherwise, the fog coils in unnatural contortions while the air grows uncomfortably humid. When in the midst of the fog, all sound save for those in the utmost immediate vicinity are swallowed in it's blackness which eclipses even the brightest mid-day sun. It is in this eclipse that the horror of the Umbral Fog reveals itself. Passersby in it's veil are said to disappear absolutely, leaving not a scrap of even their clothing behind. Sometimes two or more were written as having been taken by the fog leaving only a set of furious disorganized footmarks in the mud which seemingly stop mid-step.
