Mistharbor
At the mouth of Garibald Bay is the fishing village of Mistharbor. The entrance into the city, largely limited to seaborn travel due to the combination of the surrounding marshes, and the corruption that has spread under the waters from the nearby Shrine of Aman'Yok. Close by, the Dread Shore provides a constant tension through the southern borders where the majority of the Town's Guards need to be stationed. This imbalance in the distribution of protection has lead to the Docks of Mistharbor to be among the most dangerous places to be for a merchant without the wits to bring their own armed escorts.
The Council of The Six Sails
Rather than a traditional lordship or governor, Mistharbor is administered by a council of 6 naval captains. The council is comprised of several prominent and powerful sea lords whose fleets hold de facto control over the Tourmaline and Hattokar Seas. Waterfront District
Making up nearly the whole of Mistharbor, the Waterfront District contains all of the cities living quarters, taverns, merchants, entertainment, docks and countless more other amenities. Crime runs rampant throughout the Waterfront and it's not uncommon for even those who perform their due dilligence and bring armed escorts with them to be stopped by thieves better equipped than their own guards. Common sense might dictate to avoid trade in the city, however the lawlessness of the city has granted it unique boons.
Goods normally barred from trade outside of the secretive Aelven Kingdom of Tor'A'An can be found plentifully among the merchant-raiders and raider-merchants. In a similar vein, professions normally illegal throughout the civilized world are common in Mistharbor. Fences, Assassins, Misapropriators of the Aman's Magic, Poison Barons and many others can be found in the darkest corners of the Waerfront. Among these, even Satyr's, purest among the Amanborn have been seen in the city, plying their wonderous controls over magic for ill-gotten coin.
The Bog's Greens
The Bog's Green is a small patch of well tended forestry that is very unlike that of the rest of Mistharbor. Verdant trees loom well above into the mist-ladden skies. The soil of the Bog's Green carrying near mystical properties, it has allowed crops to grow despite the poor sun coverage that plague the marshes. Legend's talk of how the soil was once the place where Aman'Yok had rested well before during the Age of the Aman.
The Bulwark
The Bulwark is less of a district in the city, and more directly the wooden pallisades that surround the city. From the watery marshlands in the south, the wooden defenseworks curvie up nearly the whole way north to the waters of the Tourmaline Sea where the ground becomes too sodden and unstable for the wood to make effective purchase. Guardposts dot every hundred yards along the nearly thousand yard perimeter of the Bulwark. Initially little more than a fence to keep out unwanted creatures, after the death of Aman'yok and the corruption that overtook the surrounding marshes, an unusual amount of effort has been made by the Council of Six Sails towards prtoect the denizens of the city they are so often indifferent to.
The woods surrounding the Bulwark are of a notoriously poor quality and so wood from the nearby Toggul Merchant Republic was sailed in and used for the construction. A secretive contract was drawn up by the first Prince of The Bay with the Merchant Lord of Toggul wherein Mistharbor would be provided an annual bounty of lumber to maintain The Bulwark. What, in exchange, Mistharbor would provide has been kept secret since the signing of that contract.
Climate
The Maw Fog
The Maw Fog is a unique weather condition, found only in Mistharbor. A Maw Fog is only seen once or twice a year but is known to last for upwards of a week or more during it's most intense periods. As it's name implies, the fog swallows everything in it's wake, leaving visibility to only but a few paces in front of your face. The fog is even known to penetrate into the larger homes and manses of the city, showing no respect towards the doors and walls which otherwise protect their inhabitants from the elements. Most unique of all however, is the deafening properties of the fog which silence nearly all sounds from beyond a few yards. When the Maw Fog sets in, it is common to hear the chiming of small bells from each house. Each providing a unique rhythm and timbre as a way for the people of Mistharbor to navigate the fogs.
