Playable Races
Tanaria is home to a wide spectrum of peoples, ranging from traditional fantasy ancestries to cultures and species found nowhere else. While some races share roots with familiar D&D or high-fantasy archetypes, each has been shaped by Tanaria’s unique continents, pantheon, politics, and magical forces. Geography, divine influence, natural hazards, and ancient history have all contributed to the development of distinct behaviors, physiologies, and cultural identities.
Many races, such as elves, dwarves, and orcs, retain recognizable traits but have undergone significant adaptation within Tanaria. The Rhu’thor, for example, are a mountain-dwelling, culturally distinct minotaur people whose spiritual traditions and social structures differ sharply from their classic fantasy counterparts. The Avenarii, while visually reminiscent of avian humanoids, have their own evolutionary path tied to Tanaria’s wind-blessed cliffs and the influence of the skybound gods.
Other ancestries are wholly native to Tanaria, born from its god-crafted landscapes and magical phenomena. The Zemanii, shaped by arcane storms and shifting leyline energies, exemplify these original creations, species whose origins cannot be found beyond this world. These unique peoples bring perspectives, challenges, and narrative opportunities rooted directly in Tanaria’s cosmology.
Each race within this index offers:
- lore integrated with Tanaria’s history
- physiology adapted to the world’s climates and hazards
- distinct cultural norms and societal structures
- guidance for roleplay grounded in Tanaria’s philosophy, politics, and religions

Oooo, so many options for playable races. I think I would probably end up picking human, though, as always. XD
