Tainui

Protectors of Havaiki, the Sacred land, Tainui are considered the guardians of their people, patrolling and controlling the borders of their land.

History

Tainui is famous for its landing at Kawhia Harbour. The canoe was later carried overland to the Waikato River, and its legacy is central to the Tainui tribe. The Tainui people have many stories about their ancestors' deeds and the establishment of their land.
