Kauae

Built in the depth of Dragon's Maw, Kauae is a city of miners. Platinum can be found in the underground and at the Molten Steel forge master Blacksmiths work tirelessly to craft some of the best products of the kingdom using the heat coming from the volcano.

Points of interest

  • The Marble Maw Bridge and Gate are some of the most prominent example of ancient dwarven architecture. The gigantic entrance and the huge walls were both a way to show off the greatness of their people and to scare a way any malicious intruder.
  • The Molten Steel Forge is probably the most renowned forge of the kingdom after the one in the capital. Built on top of a lava pool, its blacksmiths exploit the heat to melt and forge platinum. From weapons, to tools, from trinkets to jewels, the whole city economy is based on the forge and its workers.
  • Dûmrazor, a ship that has stood tall from the highest point of the city since time immemorial. It is not clear how the Rūwhiti ancestors either built it here, moved it from some other place or actually came here by sailing from some now forgotten passage.
  • Drath’Kûl Zarnak Temple, built by the Drath’Kûl Keepers Guild the temple is a direct connection to the core of the mountain. The huge chasm at its center is used by the guild to send offering to the "Depth".

Architecture

Rūwhiti ancient architecture makes it clear that this is one of the oldest settlement in the kingdom.

Geography

Built inside a mountain, Kauae is built on rocks and volcanic ground.

Climate

Heat and flames from the volcano's depth define a pretty harsh environment but also the perfect place for a blacksmith to work in.
