Kirin
Sometimes called Ki-rin or Qilin, Kirin are a unique equine-like Dragonkin, native to the Plane of Celestia. They are exceptionally elusive creatures, that are rarely seen outside of Celestria, where they serve the will of the Gods alongside other Celestials.
Kirin resemble a mix between a Dragon and a Unicorn, though some debate whether they more resemble a horse, stag or goat. Kirin are wingless and quadrapedal, with hooved feet, flowing mains of hair and gleaming scale covered hides that come in tones of blue, green, or gold. They often have horns at the top of their heads, usually a pair of antlers, but some have been recorded with single horns, like those of Unicorns. Despite not having wings, Kirin are capable of flight, galloping through the air, and rarely touching the ground.
Kirin are celestial in origin and are able to wield powerful divine magic. Unlike other Dragonkin, Kirin are highly intelligent, capable of humanoid and even telepathic speech, but they lack the unique Draconic stages of growth of True Dragons.
Kirin are said to be incredibly beautiful and otherworldly. They are also said to be generous and harbingers of good fortune, protecting the pious and opposing the forces of evil.
The first known records of Kirin date back to the Silver Age, though their origin is uncertain. Some Dragonologists argue that the Kirin are descendants of Divine Dragons who permanently shapeshifted into equine forms, while others argue that they are descendants of both Dragons and Unicorns. The truth is yet to be determined.
