Psychic Dragons
Psychic Dragons, sometimes called Emerald Dragons, Thought Dragons or Emotion Dragons, are one of the five species of Psionic Dragons (Gem Dragons).
Unlike other True Dragons, Psionic Dragons are omnivores that can sustain themselves on cosmic energy for long periods of time without needing to eat, allowing them to survive in the far reaches of the Astral Sea. They also have innate Psionic abilities and telepathy.
The Psionic Dragons are believed to embody cosmic forces, similarly to the Primordial deities. Psychic Dragons are believed to embody thought, emotions and consciousness.
Psychic Dragons are known to be exceptionally curious and cunning dragons, wielding a range of illusory magic to deceive and disorient their opponents instead of fighting head on. But they are also said to be extremely shy, avoiding contact with people. Rumours suggest that Psychic Dragons commonly cloak their own presence so they can observe other creatures, collecting information on everything from local cultural practices and day-to-day life, to supernatural occurrences and magical phenomena.
Appearance:
Psychic Dragons are quadrupedal with thin membranes for wings. They are quite thin in shape with a long neck and an exceptionally long tail. Instead of scales their bodies are crystal-like, translucent and faceted, resembling the rich green of emerald gems. A Psychic Dragon’s psionic power manifests visibly in the gem-like spines that hover around the dragon's head and down their back. Psychic Dragons begin their lives with a dull pale green colouring and smooth bodies, gradually gaining their translucent colouring and hard, geometric bodies as they age.Element:
Psychic Dragons possess psionic powers and can release a wave of psychic dissonance to disorientate attackers.Lair:
Due to their secretive nature it is unknown where Psychic Dragons like to make their lairs. Though it is rumoured they like to live near populated areas, especially those with a large and educated population. Psychic Dragons are said to hoard knowledge from local histories to scholarly articles, collecting vast libraries of tomes.
