Pseudodragons
Pseudodragons are quadrupedal, winged Dragonkin that are almost exclusively kept as pets for the elite, or as mage familiars. They are small creatures, around the size of a house cat. They come in a wide range of scale colours, and have a venomous stinger on the tip of their tail.
Pseudodragons are incapable of speech, and while not as intelligent as True Dragons, they are known to be quite intelligent creatures in comparison to other pets. Though rare, some Pseudodragons are capable of forming a telepathic connection to their owner. It is unknown how they can do this, though it is believed to be similar in concept to the bond between Dragons and Riders of the Scale Guard.
While Pseudodragons are almost exclusively pets, unseen in the wild, they aren’t a common pet. Pseudodragons are quite expensive and aren’t the easiest creature to care for, especially if their stinger isn’t removed. There is a lucrative industry in the breeding and sale of Pseudodragons.
The first known records of Pseudodragons date back to the Bronze Age. They are believed to have been created through magical experimentation, with dragon hatchlings being prevented from maturing, eventually resulting in a relatively safe and domesticated pet.
