Amphipteres
Sometimes called Couatls, Amphipteres are feathered serpents with brilliant feathered wings, making them resemble giant flying snakes. They are Celestial in origin, and are said to be incredibly beautiful and otherworldly. They are also said to have benevolent and virtuous natures, aiding the pious and opposing the forces of evil.
Amphipteres are exceptionally rare, and are almost exclusively found within the Plane of Celestia, where they serve as guardians and caretakers. The first known records of Amphipteres date back to the late Silver Age.
Amphipteres share many qualities with Coatl Dragons, suggesting that they are related. Unlike other Dragonkin, Amphipteres are highly intelligent, capable of humanoid speech, and possess innate magic, but Amphipteres lack the unique draconic stages of growth of True Dragons.
Due to Amphipteres being of celestial origin and wielding divine magic, the most popular theory suggests that Amphipteres are descended from Coatl Dragons that studied divine magic instead of arcane magic, which after generations, transformed them into Amphipteres.
