ZQ-43D
This galaxy has obtained the attention of the Hyperion Federation for its precursor megastructures. However, it is kept as one of the Federations most closely guarded secrets.
There is a huge gate, far larger than a Federation Intergalactic Gate. It can easily fit entire stars and is extremely long.
There is also an ancient observatory. Looks like it was deigned to pick up signals from a very specific point very far away.
There is also a planet with a time dilation machine. 10 seconds on the planet corresponds to about 1.27 seconds in normal space. This planet is known as MT-245.
ZQ-43D is a massive inactive spiral galaxy, the largest galaxy in Fortrais by star count with a massive 50 quadrillion stars, which is about 4 times larger than Arcturus. Most of the stars are quite small and insignificant, such as class M and K stars. However, it was once one of the most important galaxies for the precursor factions, in particular the Xadia Ancients, and has a large amount of archaeotech. Most of it is unknown to the HF currently. Strangely, the immense size of ZQ-43D is not known to most factions. The vast majority of the stars are hidden, or cloaked, via precursor archaeotech. As such, it appears much smaller at 'only' 513 trillion stars. Little distinguishes it from other galaxies from the outside, but is the single most interesting galaxy in terms of archaeotech. Only the HF understands the true scale of ZQ-43D and they keep it secret. Too much activity here would make it appear large. The Eternity Gate is located approximately coreward-waning from the galctic core, near the outer rim of the galaxy and outside of any glactic spiral arm.
The observatory is around the opposite side of the galaxy, slightly outside the galaxy to prevent interference from stars but having a stable orbit around the galaxy.
MT-245 is closer to the core except approximately rimward-arcward relative to the core, about half way around one of the spirals. Mauray is also within a galactic spiral arm, about coreward-arcward from the center. Other than through HF influence and Mauray, the galaxy has very little life, most of which is not intelligent. The few intelligent species that managed to evolve on ZQ-43D are not advanced at all. The Xadia tried to keep this galaxy as secret as possible so that the HF would find it (the Pyre of Stars had to give them clues on its wherabouts) and having advanced species evolve here would ruin its secrecy. Several nebulae also exist within the galaxy. None of the largest points of interest do, but the HF has most of its ZQ-43D assets within these nebulae as it helps hide the galaxy from other intergalactic factions. They have even elected to hide some starships inside stars, using advanced QEN technology to remain cool. The stars can easily hide the energy signatures of the hyperionite starships. They carefully harvest stars in a similar way, by dropping large stations into stars that harvest stellar material and cconvert it into matter plasma. There are very few bioships in ZQ-43D as well. Efforts are underway to improve the Energy Signature Suppression machines commonly used by the HF by studying the precursor variants of this technology. Although much has been learned about the precursor suppresssors, they have not been able to improve the HF design yet. They also still have a lot to figure out with the precursor suppressors before they can hope to replicate them, despite knowing how to construct objects with constituent atoms.
