Guilds
The Guilds is an affluent area; many of its older buildings are enormous structures, with towers and spires adorning large swaths of the district. It has been the residence of the guilds' headquarters for as long as anyone can remember.
The guild halls are grand affairs with opulent meeting spaces, well-appointed rooms for travelling members to reside in, and records rooms holding ledgers going back to the earliest days of each guild. Many of the guilds have their sigil decorating the front of their respective buildings, either painted onto the facade or as a finely crafted wooden placard hanging from the building.
Scattered among the guild halls are inns and coffee houses, places that can cater for the huge number of travelling guild members and locations where deals can be struck in quiet corners over expensive coffee.
Each guild member can be identified by their tattoos, both the guild they belong to, which is normally signified by the crest tattoo on the back of their left hand and the standing within the guild, usually a set of tattoos that grow in complexity the higher up the hierarchy you go, normally tattooed on the side of the neck.
Throughout the district, both of these tattoos are proudly on display, but when travelling, it is not uncommon for guild members to conceal them with gloves and some neck covering.
On the lofty roof tops of the district it is rumoured there is a large colony of Strix, some say it spans a third of the district, the guilds whose rooftops are supposedly home to this sizable population have shown no desire to investigate. It is said this is because they believe the Strix protect their guildhalls from bad luck, and so, by extension, the guild itself.
With the death of Auldis Koernn, Guild Master of Koernniing, Stonehew and Nihir, one of the largest trading guilds, the district as been thrown into chaos, made worse with the news that they were on the Council of Coins being spread wide and far. Both trading guilds and individuals have thrown their hats into the ring to get a seat on the Council and/or the head of the trading guild! City guards are cracking down on the civil unrest, but this will only help the façade of civility until the position is filled. LOCATIONS: Divine Plaza
