Castle District
The ancient castle dominates the skyline in this district, built in the lost past of Port Kolin. Sitting across the River Calar, this architectural wonder is a formidable fortress surrounded by its own wall, reaching 50 feet high and 15 feet thick. Although the outer gates, if closed, would present a significant challenge to breach, they are typically left open as much of the bureaucratic process within the city passes through the castle.
The council has its meeting rooms within the great castle, as well as the open court where citizens of Port Kolin can come to air their grievances and ask for a ruling, and the judiciary court where crimes against the city are tried in a court open to any citizen of Port Koiln.
The rest of this district is primarily suborned to the administrative and military of Port Kolin, with both the Order of Orren and the Crimson Guard having their barracks within this district.
The administration of such an enormous and thriving city is housed within the walls of the ancient building of this district from the thousands of scribes, the complex accounting organised and run by the Reave, the tax collection under the watch of the Bailiff, or the oversight of the application of the laws run by the Sheriff.
The Castle District is well maintained and illuminated by magical lights of a night; it is rarely quite here, but not for the trade one might find in the Grand Bizarre or the entertainment of River Gate. The running of Port Kolin never stops. Scribes, clerks, accountants, or judiciaries can be found working here at all houses, ensuring the smooth running of the largest and greatest trade city in the Maelstrome nations. Due to the nature of the district, several industries thrive. However, they are all understated and reserved, from the supplies of parchment, quills and inks to inns catering to visiting diplomats and the eternally busy inhabitants of the district.

Architecture
The Castle district has some of the oldest buildings in Port Kolin, with their graceful lines and tall arched windows, yet despite the ethereal look, these buildings are some of the sturdiest in the city, having stood for thousands of years and bearing no marks that would indicate this was the case.
The skills required to construct in this manner has been lost to the past, yet still the guilds send people to study these building to look for clues as to how it was achieved, they have over the years rediscovered the odd technique as a result of these studies but the ultimate goal of recreating it eludes them still.
