Mythic
Butterflies flutter at the center of the woods.
Mythic is the 8th rank of the Hierarchy of the Occult, the quintessential Mythic rank. They are more powerful than the Halfborn, more common than Deep Mythics, and more stable than High Halfborn. They represent a comfortable balance between the other Mythic ranks that, like Witchcraft, ends up being one of the most visible layers of the Hierarchy. Simply put, a Mythic is a creature that was born mythical. Mermaids, Griffins, Dire Wolves, Harpies, Spirits, and Faeries; anything born as a fully fledged magical creature falls within the Mythic category.
Mythics are often intelligent, fiercely territorial, and enigmatic regardless of their type or abilities. With their otherworldly abilities and long lifespans, they have been at odds with mundane humans for nearly as long as they have existed— tension that only grows with modern humanity's expansion into the forests, oceans, and skies. Mythics have integrated with magical society as it expands, with Mythic bloodlines and Witch families curling around each other in careful, unstable relationships. Others are desperate to avoid that fate, traveling to the far corners of the planet and off into the stars for the sake of seclusion.
There is no way to go back to the way things were, but there are new ways to change.
