Divine Witchcraft

Bitter roses reap bloody rewards.

Blood Witchcraft and Pure Witchcraft forms the 9th and 10th ranks in the Hierarchy of the Occult, known together as Divine Witchcraft. These ranks are unique, in that they are mutually balanced in terms of power and expertise. As such, both the 9th and 10th ranks are considered "Divine Witchcraft," without the superior slot being taken by one or the other. Unlike their lower-rank counterparts, Blood Witches and Pure Witches are defined primarily by the way their magic is used; Blood spellcasting relies on the sacrifice of others, and Pure spellcasting relies on self-sacrifice. By tapping into something of a forbidden power, Divine Witches are brought closer to the divinity of Heirchildren and wield far more destructive power than their Natural Witch cousins.   Divine Witches are an oddity in the magical community, because very few know how they come to be. Many Witch families would greatly benefit from the presence of a Divine Witch, and there are many dedicated Natural Witches that seek out a higher level of power, so the topic is hotly debated. The truth is that many Divine Witches are born, not raised. Born into suffering. Born into sacrifice. As a token consolation for their unrequited torment, these unique Newmoons flourish into the strongest and most tragic sort of Witches.   But of course, a Pure Witch can never forgive a Blood Witch for their unnecessary bloodshed, and a Blood Witch can never forgive a Pure Witch for their condescending purity. So the two sides of the coin become bitter rivals, as they always have.
