Deity

Deity is the 15th and final rank in the Hierarchy of the occult, representing the ultimate goal of both the Hierarchy and magic itself: the creation of an entirely new world in the empty space of the Mythic Maw. The Deity overseeing the new world will go on to raise Heirchildren to eventually be Deities of their own, a slow and elegant cycle that allows for the creation and propogation of all life throughout the universe.   As this is the method by which new worlds are created, the duty of a Deity is supremely important. A Deity, in and of themselves, represents the combined trials and tribulations required to shoulder the responsibility of creating their own world. They will have ascended beyond mortality in a world not of their own making, achieved the rank of Heirchild through hard work and recognition from that world's Deity, explored the Maw as a Voyager to find their place in creation, and finally performed the Final Anchoring— the process of permanently affixing themselves to the sea of creation and planting the seed of a new world.   However, while Deities can be a hypothetical end point for all living things, the grand majority of life in the Mythic Maw will never become one; a world that does not produce a new Deity is not a "failure," but one that simply has not self-propagated yet. Rather, instead of focusing on cosmic childbirth, Deities are usually much more concerned with the Voyagers that visit their worlds in search of guidance or opportunities for mischief.   It is unknown where or when the first Deity (and by extension, the first world) came into existence. The passage of time in the Maw covers the rise and fall of immeasurable worlds, and there is no definite start point or end point in sight. Whether that is reassuring or haunting depends on you.
