A tight-knit trio of friends is torn apart when they are pulled head-first into the supernatural. A legendary family of witches and a council of vampires are reigniting centuries-old conflicts across the continental US. Fickle would-be gods threaten to overthrow the Basilisk's throne. A chess-like war is brewing, but nobody knows who is a pawn and who is a king— or how far they're willing to go to stay on the board.
The Mythic Maw is an urban fantasy universe that forms the backbone of
Heartfelt Familiar,
Modern Witches,
House of Sisters, and several other writing projects of mine. It uses the
Hierarchy of the Occult, a power scale for classifying magic and magical creatures that allows for added depth across many settings and time periods. Magic is allowed to flourish throughout human history and is not directly hidden from the eyes of the public. However, the rise of modern technology and the tightening restrictions of the old system are starting to put a choke-hold on magical society. As the tension rises, more and more human bystanders are being pulled into the not-so-secret society of Mythics and Witches, and it's up to them to find their place in the world before it crumbles to dust in their fingers.
