Xinsas

History

Once simply a bountiful grassland region of Selarr inhabited by the smaller races, the westward migration of elves, humans, dwarves and others brought with it a more cohesive and strict view of a nation. Unwilling to create more conflict like that of Kintross the migrating populace mostly succeeded in assimilating with the locals while still imposing a new order of elective monarchy across the land. Originally part of Cathn, when the eastern and western earls each voted for a different sister as the new queen in 255 the country decided to divide for the populations betterment into Xinsas and Marinas.

Demography and Population

The majority of the Xinsasian population lives in small farming villages across the countryside. However larger towns across major trading routes like Felence and Jerm have sprung up around what originally were just local lords castles, though none come close to the size and splendor of true cities like those in Issryd or back in Kint The racial makeup of Xinsas reflects its history as a migrant destination. The original populace of Halflings, Kender, and Gnomes are ubiqutous, particularly further inland, though notably much of the mining in the mountains is undertaken by Dwarves. Additionally some west to east migration across the Reinith Sea has brought beastial races to the richer farming of Xinsas's grasslands. Closer to the coast humans and elves dominate with goblin ships and trade mostly crewed and assisted by tritons and genasi seamen. Upper nobility generally reflects the local populace in each town.

Territories

Military

Small palace guard, and semi-official town guards employed in various towns across the country. In times of war a levy is raised.

Technological Level

Firearms and firepowder are limited to nobility. Iron weapons and armor are plentiful. Artificers have yet to inspire the population with their larger creations as materials are deeply limited due to international trade scarcity.

Religion

Standard Shaietu Pantheon, however given the racial makeup of the nation, Minle and Artag are most prominent.

Foreign Relations

Xinsas is friendly with its neighbours, particularly Marinas which provides much of its sea-based imports. The nearby Exart Republic is often viewed with wariness given their dominance of the Reinith Sea, however The Childrens Mountains and Laktun are seen as strong barriers to Exarti expansionism.

Laws

Laws are often not codified openly and tend to be more at the whim of local leadership than enforced through courts and the like.

Agriculture & Industry

Great farmlands and plains across the centre of Xinsas make for extensive agricultural production and support its large populace. Iron and gold deposits in The Childrens Mountains make for great exports across the ocean to Kint.

Trade & Transport

Trade caravans are common between Tuloth and Chent. The majority of sea trade is through the ports at Druth and Landis.

Education

No public education, most grow up within their own families and small industrial locales. Upper nobility benefit from tutors mainly brought in from the the Republic or across the ocean from Kint.

Gazetteer
A bountiful land with little enemies, the Kingdom of Xinsas sits just far enough away from every major conflict in Shaietu. It's location in the centre of Selarr on the east coast of Mareen is far enough away from the lands of those with more different populations, while being close enough to Kint to still allow for migration and trade. With iron and gold mines in the east, bountiful grain fields throughout the centre, and rare herbs harvested from the southern jungles it is mainly self-sufficient with the notable exception of its dead ocean along the coast, whos lifeless waters provide no shelter for marine life, thus making safe harbours, but no fishing.
Currency
The Gold Mark (equivalent to GP) and Iron sigils (CP) are commonly used in both Xinsas and Marinas, however at port towns and in the capital all kinds of foreign currency can be freely exchanged.
Major Exports
Wool, wheat & grains from the farmlands. Gold and iron from The Childrens Mountains. Various medicinal herbs harvested from The Steamer Green.
Major Imports
Fish, salt, and other goods from the sea are imported from Gorb and Marinas, as the waters off Xinsas coast are dead and quiet from the outflows of the Magen Waste Gems, rare ores, silver and copper are brought across the ocean from the Free Cities or south from occasional trade from Okrun
