The Eyrion Confederacy
History
The brutal civil war in Feyrin ended with the wiping out of its Genasi royal line. Rising from the ashes was a loose collection of cities ruled by a group of previously-commoner warlords, known as The Cirque. While relations with Eawindu were never fully repaired given their continuation of their own royal line, they have made overtures to both Omoraki and the Free Cities of An'korg to become part of their merchants alliance, though no official announcement has ever been made.
Demography and Population
Most of the Eyrish populace live in the great cities of the Confederacy or in smaller fishing villages along the coast. The old colonial mining towns and cities along the north coast of An'korg have limited migration to the main peninsula, but huge amounts of trade.
The racial makeup of the Confederacy reflects its place at the very edge of two continents. While the great majority of the population are native Genasi or Goliaths, particularly on the peninsula; it is not uncommon to see Goblins, Hobgoblins or the occasional Fairy having travelled across the Ferith Sea from Vorn or the Free Cities of An'korg, though the inhospitable and rough nature of the Confederacy does not entice many to stay.
While the old monarchy of Feyrin were Genasi, their mistreatment extended to other Genasi enough at the time that the hatred for the monarchy did not extend to all Genasi after the fall.
Territories
Military
The Cirque rules with an iron fist across the Eyrish peninsula. Despite this their military is no major force; the might required to control its population being much less than one needed to invade a neighbour.
Technological Level
While firepowder mined in the Dead Peaks is one of the major exports of the Confederacy. It is fairly rare still inside the Confederacy to the general public as most is withheld by The Cirque and their private armies.
Religion
Foreign Relations
Eawindu is technically at peace, though the barren nature of the Eyrish peninsula possibly encourages Eawindu to look elsewhere for war. The relations with both Omoraki and the Free Cities of An'korg is positive, but nothing has yet been formalised.
Laws
The Cirque have codified laws over the Confederacy, however amendments and new laws are added so regularly that a huge cottage industry of lawyers and accountants plying their trade to assist merchants evade taxation has become a national pastime. Commoners below the merchant class generally operate on the rule of don't get in anyone important's way and things won't get worse.
Agriculture & Industry
Mining in the Dead Peaks is bountiful but extremely treacherous. On the Eyrish peninsula itself the terrain is rugged, barren, and mountainous; as such much of the agriculture is on the coast and in the seas, with the fishing fleet of the Confederacy one of the most experienced in the world.
Trade & Transport
Mountainous paths and tracks cross the peninsula. Sea routes between the peninsula and towns on @An'korg are well trodden and safe.
Education
There is no public education. Some of the rich send their children to study in the Free Cities. Otherwise there are military colleges in Ionek and temples in Meyr where second and third children can be sent to get appropriate education. The majority of the populace only find education through the rare opportunity of joining an appropriate guild and their internal learning structures.
