Okrun

History

The ancient gnomish kingdom of Okrun has long controlled the northern swathe of Selarr. The influx of the taller races in the Second Westward Migration only changed the makeup of the nation minimally. More impactful has been the long expansion of the Magen Waste, which originally was the northern border of Okrun. Its slow expansion was never considered of national importance as the northern lands weren't fertile to begin with and were rather used for small scale mining, however the great storm of 183 vastly hasten its expansion and buried the northern town of Fethri whole.

Demography and Population

While the royal family are gnomes, the population is an almost even split of kender and gnomes. Kender are particularly found closer to the coast and the mountains, wheras gnomes are more populace in the mountains and southern logging villages.

Territories

Military

Okrun has little military, though sometimes levys recruits to defend their southern villages from Ghostwise incursions.

Foreign Relations

Okrun has friendly relations with The Exart Republic with whom it has long-standing trade routes. It has an uneasy peace with Laktun though the logging of the Deadleaf Woodland is a point of contention. The Magen Waste is considered a nuisance as their magestorms regularly cause chaose in northern Okrun.

Gazetteer
The kingdom of Okrun serves an important purpose as the outlet for The Exart Republic to the Fissic Ocean. The dead seas off its coast and inhospitability of the southern edge of Magen Waste, means trade and ingenuity must sustain the nation. Further south small logging villages have gradually pushed back the great forest of the Deadleaf Woodland to bring lumber north to the shipyards of Okrima.
Currency
The silver barge (equivalent to EP) and tin royals (CP) are widely used, though Exartian coinage is also accepted freely.

Okrun imports much of its produce from Xinsas
