Magen Waste
History
The Waste grew from the few outcasts from early pre-migration Selarrian civilisations. Since the migration and the greater influx of magical learning from Kintross and by extension Philathrienne the Magen Waste has been able to develop from a loose network of tribal learning centres into three great cities where magic is learnt and explored in more detail than anywhere else in Shaietu.
Demography and Population
The Magen Waste is a full multispecies nation. Even despite their location there is not a larger proportion of halflings, gnomes, or kender, as these races have slightly lower proportions of magical talent to others in Selarr.
Territories
Military
The Waste's military force consists of their recruitment forces disguised as merchants.
Foreign Relations
The Magen Waste has no official relations with other nations. Unofficially it often sends out parties of magetesters, disguised as tribal merchants who test children and abscond with those of particular magical ability.
Agriculture & Industry
The infertile sand and nearby seas hold no life, much of the food needs are met through magical means instead.
Trade & Transport
The waste is usually traversed in sandships, magical vessels that ride the latent magic of the land to skim across the dunes.
Education
The citadel at Waste has separate towers for each of the magical schools, for more advanced magics children are sent at 16 to study in sand-towns; moving tribal congregations of sandships that skim across the dunes in formations studying the magics of the earth and winds.

Gazetteer
Outside of the Magen Waste most think of northern Selarr as a barren desert regularly scorched by blasting magestorms, giving it its name. While Port is the official capital, the real centre of power is the towering paradise of Waste. The existence of both Waste and Mount is a fiercely guarded secret from those outside of The Waste. The magestorms are really the result of long-term magical pollution from continuous expermintation in the classrooms and halls of Waste and the large-scale magical excavation of metals and gems in the northern portion of Hell's Backbone.
Currency
Trade in Port is managed through bartering, no official currency is used in the Waste and none are accepted.
Major Imports
Little is imported... other than magical children.
