What You Need to Know In Cyberpunk
The Setting
The current setting is 2077 after the Fourth Corporate War and the DataKrash. The world is fractured, unstable, and driven by corporate power struggles, nomad mobility, street gangs, and fixer networks.
Body Culture & Identity
In 2077, the body isn’t sacred — it’s customizable. Sex, gender, and beauty are fluid concepts, sculpted as easily as your faceplate. A body can be rented, rewritten, or replaced — and nobody blinks twice. Modern concepts of sexual taboo have all but vanished — most chooms have multiple inputs and outputs.
Eddies (Currency)
“Eddies” are Eurodollars, the primary currency of Night City. Work means survival — and survival means keeping your eddies flowing.
Roles
Roles define your starting identity: Solo, Netrunner, Techie, Fixer, Medtech, or Rockerboy. Each shapes your abilities, resources, and story direction.
Neuroport
Every character has a Neuroport — a built-in interface that connects you to devices, cyberware, vehicles, and the Net. It’s your direct link to the digital world.
Vehicles & Neuroports
Many vehicles require neuro-linked operation. Whether you’re driving a Quadra or screaming down Route 101 on a Kamachi bike, your port keeps you in control.
Cyberware
Cybernetic upgrades enhance your abilities, but installing them chips away at your humanity. The more chrome you add, the more you risk losing your sense of self.
Humanity Cost
Replacing flesh with metal reduces empathy and emotional stability. Too much modification can fracture your identity and perception of reality.
Cyberpsychosis
If Humanity falls too low, cyberpsychosis becomes a real threat — where the line between person and weapon dissolves entirely. If your character is afflicted by cyberpsychosis, you must portray their symptoms appropriately.
The Net
The digital underworld where Netrunners operate. It is layered, guarded, and dangerous — requiring skill, stealth, and the right tools.
Role of Cyberdecks
Your Cyberdeck is your key to the Net — a portable hacking rig that stores quickhacks and allows deep system intrusion.
Quickhacks
Quickhacks are tools for digital manipulation — disabling security, confusing enemies, or damaging systems without firing a shot.
Combat Basics
Combat is fast, lethal, and tactical. Smart positioning, cover, and the right equipment often matter more than brute strength.
Contacts & Fixers
Jobs come from Fixers — the dealmakers. Building your network means more opportunities, gear, and survival chances.
Street Cred
Your reputation determines what doors open. In Neon Eden, Street Cred also unlocks properties and territory access over time.
