Wounds and Criticals

Wounded States

As you take damage, you cross Wound State Thresholds, eventually becoming wounded in ways that impair your performance. Each new Wound State replaces the effect of your previous Wound State

As your health decreases, you'll reach the mortally wounded state, shown by both your HP and the flag above your head. You can continue fighting at your own risk, or surrender.
Mortally Wounded:
    • Character can keep fighting but must roll under BODY stat each turn to survive.
    • Fail once or rolling a natural 10 is equal to death.
Surrender: Moves to consequence phase, where victor chooses an outcome:
    • Take eddies (100 if available).
    • Wake up (end combat, let them go).
    • Humanity wound (clear mortally wounded status).

Critical Injuries

When fighting sometimes you'll get lucky, or deliver a skilful attack at an enemy to cause an injury and extra damage. All Critical Injuries cause a horrible Injury Effect and deal 5 Bonus Damage directly to the target's Hit Points when suffered. This extra damage doesn't ablate armor, and is inflicted regardless if the attack managed to penetrate the target armor or not. All injuries target the body, unless you used your action to do a aimed shot, in which case the critical injury will be on the head.

After receiving a critical injury, a player can attempt a quick fix to supress the debuff for 24 hours. After which, the wound will open up again. Reaching out to a Medtech for surgery is the only way to clear the injury. Or in most extreme cases, the application of cyberlimbs or cybereyes.

Trauma Team

Your Health Points reached 0 and you failed the Body roll, now what? You're flatlined. The character itself will be eliminated and you'll have to create a new one, but fear not in the year 2077 there are ways to prevent this! The only way to survive being flatlined is to buy and equip a Trauma Team card!
    • Buy a Trauma Team subscription from vendors.
    • Plans vary by duration, cost, and uses.
    • Must be activated before combat with 'activate trauma coverage'.
    • When flatlined, expend a use by pressing the same button.

Note: Can’t activate coverage mid-combat if you didn’t already have it.
