The deities of the Pharaonic Pantheon created Draconia using their Arcane Powers. These arcane powers still linger in the world. After the creation of the world, the deities slipped into their extradimensional realms and seldom personally meddle in the affairs of the mortals. This is due to the appearance of the dragons, supremely magical creatures with extreme elemental and psionic power (see more below). The dragons were brought into Draconia with the help of Ra, who was able to channel the combined powers of the deities to open several portals from the elemental and energy planes. Instead of operating in the world personally, the deities act through their divine followers (led by the clerics). In the beginning, mortals wishing to follow the divine path were free to worship the deity of their choosing. After Ra ascended into the far reaches of the Outer Planes (leaving his duties to Pelor) he appointed Osiris to be the King of the Gods. Osiris’s brother, Set, lusted after the power of the kingship and, on the day of Osiris’s coronation, Set kills Osiris. Osiris’s son, Horus, becomes angry at Set and a war breaks out among the gods. This upsets the balance of the Material Plane and the worshippers of the deities become mistrustful of those worshiping a deity on the other side of the war. This starts a war in Draconia, pitting the servants of the good deities against the servants of the evil deities and dividing the servants of the neutral deities. The war became so bad that non-followers of the divine path were eventually forced to take sides; only the bards remained completely neutral. After a while, the Draconic Confederacy stepped in and put a stop to the fighting in Draconia. The Draconic Confederacy then did something that was unheard of: they ventured into the Outer Planes to stop the war between the gods. With the help of the Draconic Confederacy, Horus easily overcame Set and the dragons personally put Horus on the Throne of the Gods. Upon returning to the Material Plane, the Draconic Confederacy decreed that only deities who follow a righteous path (Alignment is Good or Neutral) may be worshipped. The evil deities were banished from the Pantheon by Pelor, the Patron Deity, by order of Horus. To this day, it is possible to serve the entire pantheon (with Pelor as the Patron God), or mortals may worship the gods individually.
