Ra.

Patron Deity, King of the Gods

Ra is the original Sun God and the ultimate Lawgiver of Draconia, having risen from the Sea of Chaos. He is the ultimate symbol of order and was the King of the Gods before his forced abdication. He decreed the Law of the universe. A catastrophic battle with Apothis poisoned him, forcing him to ascend to a distant part of the Astral Plane to survive, leaving his throne to Osiris and his duties to Khepri.

Tenets of Faith

Followers are dedicated to the study of the order of the universe and its divine arts. Like the followers of Thoth, they seek truth, but primarily through the lens of divine law and adherence to the cosmic principles established by Ra. Clerics often engage in deep meditation and study of the sacred arts.

Clergy & Temples

Ra has no standing temples, as his faith was absorbed by Horus and Khepri upon his abdication. The Coalition of the Sovereign Institutes of Ra existed to preserve his original laws, believing his spirit remains the source of all divine authority.

Personal history

Ra was the King of the gods for centuries of Draconian time. His reign was undisputed amongst the gods. Apothis, who was never actually called a god, hated Ra because the two of them stood for two diametrically opposed concepts: Order and Chaos. Ra is the god of Order and wants the world to remain ordered. Apothis is a being of pure Chaos and wants to see the entire world fall back into the Sea of Chaos, the gods right alongside it. At one point, Ra and Apothis got into a huge duel. It was a magical battle of epic proportions. It was magic so powerful, its effects could probably be felt across the Astral Plane to other realms of existence. In the course of this battle, Apothis--as a great serpent--bit Ra. Ra managed to fend off Apothis and drive him away, but the damage had been done. Over the next while, Ra began to age as his life force was being drained. There is no antidote to Apothis's venom. He knew that the only place he could go to remain alive was the far reaches of the Astral Plane, far outside of Draconian Reality. He ascended to the Astral Plane, leaving the throne of the gods to Osiris and his dominion over the Sun to his high priest, Khepri, who assumed part of Ra's divinity.
