Summer Camp 2025 Recap/Reading Challenge
A Little Recap
July has come and gone. The days are rapidaly getting shorter now, and the nights a bit more cool (Thank god). During this past summer Camp, i managed to write 34 articles of brand new world-building in 36 days. Quick maths says thats almost 1 article per day, which is pretty awesome if you ask me!My Best Articles

May the gods be with you if you have the missfortune of stumbling into the region known as the Winding Abyss, the home of these large monstrous hulking insects. Better hope you brought some bug-spray, eh! A fantasticly well written article, describing Dreadnoughts, hulking beasts that stalk the endless dark tunnels of the winding abyss. His great sense of humour shines well through his writing, whch still manages some great imaginative descriptions of the monsters themselves and on how to best defend yourself against them!

Are you a downtrodden demon looking for some food? No worries! Just contact your local Imperial Outpost and they'll fix you right up with some "Dark Bread". An interesting article that talks about a civic project led by two imperial princesses to uplift the local demon population with a series of reforms and programs, one which includes a free distribution of a special, demon adapted, type of bread to young demons going to school.

I hope no one here's got thalassophobia... I love the way this region is described, with it being seperated into 5 distinct sections, each more terrifying that the last. I really love the drawings and the descriptions of the gross and terrifying animals that live down there, as well as the bits of dialogue we get from a submarine crew along the way, as they descend further and further down...

When someone so evil, and so powerful dies, do they truly ever leave the mortal realm? The autorities may say that he's dead and represents no more danger, but in the heart of people, the fear that he may rise again lives on... A very well written article about a prince in exile, who worked tiredlesly over decades to lead his kingdom out of centuries of civil war, only to be killed and resurected not as a human, but as a monster serving an otherworldly entity, and who proceeded to plunge the world into chaos. Genuenly, one of the most interesting, and scariest vilains i've read about in a while!

What radiant skin you have! Oh, its falling off now... Oops? A chilling tale of a child victim of parental abuse and childhood poverty growing up to be a serial killer. However, what makes him unique is his murder weapon: Vita Derma. This cream promissed glistening and radiant skin to its users, but it would actualy rot their skin, giving it a green colour, before killing them. What i especialy like about this article is how well the killer is developed as a person. You can see glimpses of his fucked-up psyche as you read a description of him dessecting a still alive mouse as a child, or him keeping notes of (presumably) his victims in little journals. Overall, one of my favorite article from this summer camp. Knocked it out of the park with this one, Mochi!

I love me a settlement that manages to rebuilt itself over and over again, against all odds. Parts of this village's story reminds me of Asterix and Obelix, and their small gallic village that incessantly resists against the encroaching romans. Replace the romans with rowing bands of raiders and wild beasts, and you kinda have Mjolby! Also, that opening prose is *Chef's kiss*

Ah! So THATS where our tax-dollars go to die... A very funny article that describes a rancid substance produced by consultants, parasites which infiltrate large corporation and influence management into doing non-sensical decisions which in some cases, may bring the company down. What i like most about this article is that it takes an IRL phenomena of over-paid and bad consultants and turns them into mysterious (And gross) fantastical cratures. A very fun read indeed!

A needle carved out of a warrior's first kill? Now That's badass! I love how each Ver'kaal is unique and even considered part of a hunter's soul and identity. The tatoo painted with their Ver'kaal also hold a significant cultural significance to the warrior that receives it, and to his tribe. In fact, a warrior with no tattoo is considered unworthy and story-less, which is an excellent way of showing the importance of this tradition to them. Overall, although the concept is not unique, it is told and described in a very cool and refreshing way, which has gven me ideas for my own tattooed warrior...

Welcome to the Clash of the Ages! Only two Serian country remain! Ytarym and Bamsar! Which one of them will come up on top? Find out next time on dragon bal- uh, i mean, click the article box to find out more! I really liked how clear and concise the prelude section was, which helped a lot setting up the stakes of the battle ahead perfectly. Speaking of the battle, it was wonderfully described, to the point that i could see the troupe movement in my head. The reveal at the end of the battle of the use of a classic military strategy by one of the warring sides, which gave them victory was just the perfect icing on a very delicious cake. One of my favorite article from this summer camp for sure! In the world of: Woven Worlds

This article was my first introduction to Woven Worlds, and i have to say that i am pleased. The drug's effect are well described and also balance nicely between them being realistic and fantastical, which i appreciate a lot. I especialy like the fact that it seems that multiple organisation are involved in the drug's trade and smuggling operations, but with competing interests, which offered a quick but entising glimpse into the wider setting. Came for the drugs, stayed for the political intrigue!

Ah, finaly! Eurovision without the controversies! Err, well not quite. This article is a very well written deep dive into a pan-galactic song contest, founded by a war refugie 3 centuries ago. That person connected to her new home with the help of the local diverse music, which eventualy gave her the idea for Yonderhytm. I really appreciated the sections dedicated to the controversies and the contests winners, as they both added weight and meaning to the rest of the article.

A deep canyon, into which a large river drains into in cascading waterfalls, carving an intricate cave system full of underground rivers, aquifers, and unique biomes such as a particaly underground mossy forests full of various species from the surface! This seems like such a cool and fascinating location, and it is beautifuly described in detail, making it easy to visualise when reading. I also like that it became an in-world tourist attraction! Hopefuly the tourist will respect the beauty of the land!

A mouth-watering article! I love the detailed description of the steps needed to cultivate these flowers, and their sweet sap. The soil tilling, the seeding, the bee hives kept close to polinate and protect the flowers, and then the harvests, drying, and extraction of the sugary crystals. All of it is so well described. What i wouldn't give for a taste...

No matter how many times this city is destroyed, the people will rebuilt! I love the detailed descriptions that are given on some of the catastrophe that hit this poor settlement in the past. I also found the fact that some of the current buildings in the city use parts and peices of previously destroyed buildings, like walls and foundations really interesting. I know older cities around the world do this as well, and it reminds me of the layer of history one can encounter when visiting an ancient city.

Water, Earth, Fire, Air! Not to be confused with the ATLA universe, these tribes of beings, made of ancient energy and guided by a common ancestral goal and belief, appeared on Pathon as elementals representing the four classical elements. A fantasticaly well written article that dives deep into the Sijinn, their lore, culture, history and magic abilities in great details, making this a very enjoyable read! It also describes their varied physical appearances, which i appreaciated as well, as although they share many common things, it is clear that they also have some cultural and physical diversity amongst them.

Yeah, this wouldn't be a top 10 summer destination on any tourist website. This whole "The dead are walking again" vibe is really bad for the local economy, if you ask me. I found this article to be both sad and mysterious. The loss of Myltery, one of the most advanced human civilisation at the time in Kena'an, both to civil war, and also external conquest, before finaly being robbed from the living by the dead rising from the land itself. Mysterious also, because of the dead themselves, and their leader. And with a mention that the mysterious blight that choked out nearly all life from the land is seeping into and bleeding out into neighbouring kingdoms, more devastation may be yet too come...

Cargo bay! Exhaust port! This fun article is basicaly a large compilation of various slangs and idioms commonly found within the Rose Petal galaxy. I love their variety and how most are easy to say and remember, making it very believable that they would be propagated throughtout an entire galaxy. Well now i'll shut my hatch and use the auxilary jets, i don't want to be spaced by pissing in the power supply... or something like that.

What happens when you place upon a child the burden of guilt of their parent's sins. What happens when you do this at a country's scale. For the youth of Carovingia, its rebelion. First against the the societal norms, then, against the people upholding them. A true rebellion is brewing in the country, fuelled by the resentement of its youth against their occupiers. And just like lightning, it may strike when they least expect it! Yet another fantastic article by Demongrey! The more i read about High Albion, the more i can't get enough! A truly fascinating world!

An oasis of life and culture in the desert! I ADORE the way the city is described in this article. As i read, i could almost feel myself be transported into this wonderful location and see myself inside the loud and busy bazzar, the dusty book-filled rows of the library, and face to face with strangers cloaked in the darkness of the less savory parts of the city... Tyrdal's prose shines very brightly here, and his style gives incredible life to a fantastic location. In the world of: The Sagas

This well writen article describes a city at the edge of two worlds: The East and the West. Saddled in between these two realms, the city is a crossroad of culture, lauguages, peoples and most importantly for the city's rulers, Trade. I really enjoyed reading about the city's history which i found to be realistic, something i enjoyed a lot. The points of interests and tourism sections were also very interesting for me. Definetly made me wish i could visit Coju and see these for myself. But, until then, this great article will have to do!
My plans for the rest of 2025
Keep on keeping on!
With August now almost over, that means there's only a little over 4 months left in the year, as crazy as that sounds. For what's left of 2025, i plan to participate in all upcoming unofficial and official challenges to the best of my abilities. I look fowards to Spooktober and NovelEmber if it happens again this year, and of course, i look especialy foward to finishing the year off with a bang, with WorldEmber!Finaly starting the book! (Maybe)
I say this, but please keep in mind that i am famously bad with deadlines and promises. BUT, currently, my plan is to write the first few chapters (Probably 1-6, plus prologue, so 7 in total) of the first of many books of the chronicles of Hysal Series. Fingers crossed that Novelember happens this year as well, as it'll be a great motivation for me, as it was last year.New World, who this?
And in possibly even MORE exciting news (At least to me): The new world i've talked about and teased a few times before this year is now, as of a few weeks ago, CREATED. It is still being worked on however, and not in a presentable state, so i probably won't be able to show it all to you until a little while. I hope to reveal it in November, in time for WorldEmber. Its name will be revealed at the same time. Very excited to show you all what i've cooked up!

Thanks for including the Little Dragon and Les Éclairs! You have had a great SC, and I'm looking forward to reading what you will write next!
These were awesome articles. I knew i had to include them! Looking forward to your future writings as well, friend! <3
