The Union
A New Empire for a New Era
The Union, formally the United Terran Alliance of Acarican Nations, is not a continuation of its predecessor and eventual subsidiary, The Reignhold Alliance but the transcendence of its founding concept. While built from the same roots, it represents a fundamentally different ambition: to unify disparate Terran polities across all of Acarcia into a shared civilizational project rather than merely hold a single continent together. Where the Reignhold Alliance negotiates a fragile unity among equals, the Union asserts an inevitable and absolute unification. It presents itself not as a squabbling federation of regional powers but as a supranational order, inheritor of the old Empire’s mantle and steward of a restored Terran hegemony. Its institutions extend beyond defense and commerce into shared law, cultural synthesis, administrative infrastructure, and ideological coherence. Though the Union still valorizes compromise and maintains representative structures, it carries an unmistakable imperial echo. Its leaders see the entirety of Acarcia as a single project to be harmonized, rationalized, and ultimately defended from the chaos of division and decline they believe history has already proven inevitable. To supporters this is manifest destiny, but to critics it is a near-empire in all but name.
