Faselicia

The Lost Lands

Faselicia, the eastern supercontinent of Aemaphia, is a long and narrow landmass brimming with geographic contrasts and enigmatic allure. Its northern expanse, Tenebrusia, transitions from icy tundras and boreal forests to fertile grasslands, deserts, and tropical jungles, creating a spectrum of climates and ecosystems. The shattered archipelago of Trunsia, remnants of a once-great landmass, is a mosaic of volcanic islands, coral reefs, and secluded rainforests, harboring unique cultures and endemic species. To the south lies mysterious Tectusia, where ancient deserts, rugged mountain ranges, and lush coastal rainforests are home to flora and fauna found nowhere else in Aemaphia. Shaped by ancient cataclysms like the Fey Schism, Faselicia's landscapes, teeming biodiversity, and storied history make it a vital and complex realm within the world of Aemaphia.

Acarcia is inspired by the hemispheric landmasses of North America, South America, and Australia.

History

Faselicia was once equal to its twin, Acarcia, in size and scope. However a long forgotten calamity struck the landmass, submerging much of the terrain beneath the waters. Only three scarred continental regions, each with vastly diverse climates and biomes, remained.
Faselicia was the origin point for the fey refugees fleeing the Mists of Myth. The fey refugees acclimated to their new home, eventually becoming the Elves, Duergar, Gnomes, Centaur, Satyrs, Pixies, Trolls, Cyclopi, and Hags, as well as the Rakshasa. After populating Faselicia, the fey discovered Acarcia and soon began their expansion. However, the fey eventually encountered the dragons of Acarcia. After an intense series of conflicts known to history as the Draconic Wars, the fey and dragons came to a tenuous armistice. The vast majority of the fey returned to Faselicia, which the dragons granted them ownership of on the condition that some fey remained to serve the dragons in their mission to protect Aemaphia from future extraplanar invasions.

Millennia later, the fey of Faselicia fell into civil war known as the Fey Schism. This war ended with a second calamity as the elves sank the vast holds of their duergar rivals, creating Truncia. This cataclysmic act spurred the dragons once again into action. The dragons decimated the elven kingdoms, thereby putting an end to the wars. It would take centuries before the fey, now forever fractured, could restore some of their former majesty.
When the Giants first arrived on Aemaphia, millennia after the second devastation of Faselicia, they deemed the smashed lands mere scraps of creation and unworthy of their attention or development. Following their own empire’s collapse during a near-apocalyptic war with the dragons, all records of Faselicia were lost to the peoples of Acarcia. It would not be until centuries after the Terrans and Orcs conquered their respective corners of Acarcia that anyone in the "Known World" became aware of the fragmented lands of the far side of Aemaphia.

Following the rediscovery of Faselicia, the Imperial forces and the orcs of the Dominions immediately attempted trade and colonization. The most successful colonization effort proved to be Esson, an abandoned chain of islands in Truncia that became inhabited by pirates from Acarcia. So far any attempt to establish a settlement on Tenebrucia has been met with failure due to strong push back by the native fey. Attempts to settle Tectucia have also proved difficult due, in part, to the extremely hostile fauna and flora of the Hidden Continent.
