Froglings

Froglings are a kind of amphibious anthroest that primarily exist along the east and southern edges of the continent of Ayrath. They're large, slimy creatures capable of surviving in fresh or salt water, on top of living on land. Like all anthroests, they are genetic ancestors of Anthrones, but unlike other anthroests, they also have other genetic ancestors in the form of merpeople. Froglings are most commonly found on temperate coasts, where they can traverse between land and water freely.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Like most other anthroests, Froglings are almost entirely humanoid... most of the time. They breath through their skin, allowing them to collect oxygen from the atmosphere or from water, and unlike most amphibious creatures, they also have bodily functions that allow them to survive in fresh and salt water, too. They have two arms, two legs, a head, and a singular tail they use to help keep balance while traversing in the water (and when in combat under any context). Froglings also possess rather hollow skeletons designed to be able to withstand significant water pressure when they dive deep under the water, making them the only amphibious species in Ayrath that can go deep into the oceans.

Froglings possess webbing at various parts of their body, including between their fingers and toes and in their armpits. This webbing is made of the same thing as their slimy skin, but significantly thinner.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While a Frogling's senses are on-par with most anthroests while on the surface, when they go under the water all of their senses are significantly enhanced, allowing them to be one of the dominant species while under the water. They have enhanced hearing and sight, can detect even the smallest movements around them through changes in water pressure, have darkvision (which is also true on the surface, to a lesser extent), and are even capable of using echolocation under the water.
