I turn to ask Zaye if she has ever been on one of those blockade runners. She hasn't, but she does remind me that they can hold either refineries or repair facilities on board. I glance around at the ship: Vanya, Vance, Zaye, kids, Kit Kat, Noki, Davish, Hicks, and Almon d'Joy are present. I start working on tactics. I ask Almon if he can get us a blueprint and then ask Vanya to point out where the people are congregrated. I turn to Noki and ask for some information on her abilities. She offers a bit of background as well and I hope that Danar is paying attention to that and will remember to deal with that trauma. Almon pulls up the latest blueprint and we ger our first glimpse at the basic configuration of the ship. This isn't the actual ship sensor scan, but a sister ship. Almon is excited about learning that the center section can just pop in and pop out to be replaced with what is needed. I wonder out laod if we could pop it out now and let that section of the ship and leave it floating. Almon also suggests a cone ping to take out the people and electronics on the ship. As that would also have an impact on other ships in the area, I put that as last ditch effort. The second option is to use the force to look for life on the ship which I have already requested Vanya to work on.
I keep looking at the sensor scan data and I do not like how it is laid out. While it is good for the purpose of the ship, it is going to make it harder for us to find a way to board by aligning flight paths and floating in to a mostly empty section. Vanya wonders if we could detach the back control section of the ship and insert Starrise Falcon as the control module. While I like the idea, I am not sure that the ship is really capable of that. It is an intriguing thought though. I ask Vanya to figure out where people are and she does her thing. Then she screams just one word, "REAVERS!" Guess we won't be docking with that ship now. Then Danar suggests that maybe they will be actually mining the planet to pull the minerals after they bombard it with mines and use the reavers to clear any remaining people. Vanya hates that thought and turns his thoughts to what Sargon is actually after.
I go back to the first idea and wonder if we can arrange to shoot that cone of sensor ping in such a way that we avoid any other ships in the area. I ask the mentats to pull a good 3D image of the surrounding space to highlight their probable paths so we can move our ship to the best possible area to be in order to send out the ping. We have a potential clear path with the only possible backsplash being a ship graveyard. I poll the group and the only possible concern listed is the ghost protocol that might happen if a dead ship has an automatic reaction to the sensor ping. They might react by chaasing us and no ability to interact with them to stop. Vanya assigns Almon to be ready to denecrotic the ships. I have had Spook tracking the reaver ship by using the holographic data to track as Almon suggested. We maneuver into position, I confirm that Hicks has his helmet off, and yell "PING!"
The cloaking device sputters and dies, the shield comes up, and the engines sputter and die so it begins to drift. The ping meanders off into space and goes into the ship graveyard with no immediate visible effects. Zaye thinks the shields coming up are an automatic defence mechanism and are in a shielded section of the ship. Noki comes to the center of the bridge area and concentrates. She sweeps her arms and a glowing blue light that moves like a hyperspace wave engine with the containment field being her hands. I can look over her should and ask her to check the section between the mining controls in the front of the ship and the mining/refinery area. What we immediately see what appears to be a clone trooper wearing red armor with black trim facedown. She continues to pan and we see a total of three clones - maybe. Then a fourth figure that might be a miner, but is actually a reaver with cybernetic implants. In fact there are four reavers - all with cybernetics. Noki asks if we can move to the next section and I agree quickly.
This is a mining module and we can see that they are examining something. There are ten cybernetic reavers that are slumped over chairs and consoles. Davish then pops out a memory about the Emperor and sithspawn and how they might be part of an experiment. We then have Noki move to the bridge section with troopers slumped in the chair. I then ask Noki to focus on the airlock door which looks like a normal setup that would be expected for a umbilical lock. I question the mentats about a tractor beam or grappling hook option to get this ship to the ship graveyard. I check with the team and all agree that moving the ship there is probably the best option. Vanya then suggests that she, Davish, Hicks, and Danar go on over to the ship and begin neutralizing the reavers while Zaye and I get the ship to the graveyard section. I am not thrilled with that option, but it is probably for the best as we may not have too much time before the reavers wake up. Noki gets them over to the ship and comes back.
Zaye and I then begin working on getting the ship to the graveyard. We discuss the placement of the grappling hooks and we make it a bit of a contest to see who can get their hook in place first. We seem to fire in unison and they latch at the same moment so we fire the last one together with Zaye aiming and me firing the clamp. Once they are all registered as firmly affixed, we send a warning to the group on board and then slowly begin to warm up the engines. We move slowly forward until the grappling hooks catch and then we head slowly to the debris field. We can see fighter craft, civilan craft, military craft from the war, even pre-imperial craft. Some really old stuff with the occasional spark from the slowly dying craft. We even see a remnant of the Blood Smith Raider capitol ship that is bumping into other ships within the field. Then I see a Venator II star destroyer vehicle and while I am looking at that I see movement out of the corner of my eye and turn quickly to stare. I see a large wreck of something else. An actual Lucrehulk class battleship. There seems to be a lot of ore/mining ships in this scenario we are dealing with . However, what caught my eye was the fact that while the rest of the debris field is basically moving together in a obvious rotation, that ship is moving upwards. I ask Zaye if I am crazy and point at the area I am concrned about it. She confirms that the ship is moving. I know there is no way that ship can be moving itself as there are huge holes through it. I ask Zaye to quickly do a sensor scan.
She does so and then quickly stares at me. It is a Night Sister Raider ship! They are using the other ship as a shield of sorts. I sigh almost in defeat. What possible reason could they have to be here? Are they part of the current plot we are dismantling or are they just here becuase the entire universe seems to be against Chalcedon doing anything. I know that we can't really leave them to their own devices as they are dangerous, but I really wish it wasn't necessary. I konw this will mean that Zaye and I have to split up. While we have the kids with us due to her father being a hutt and that we don't have a safe house with a situation that provides us the freedom to leave the kids there while we have to do things. This means that Zaye has to pilot the Falcon after we "drop off" the blockade runner. If we register on the Night Sister radar, they will watch us and then ignore the situation once we drop off the ship and leave. However, we can fix the ship to come back alive and as soon as the Night Sisters move we can take action.
I am about to rech out to the team on the ship when Hicks calls. He whispers that the situation is FUBAR. I share the Night Sister ship status and the theory they are there for revenge. He sends me the video feed with no audio. Less than two seconds later there is a communication from the Night Sister ship. I open the channel and we have a discussion about goals and preferred outcomes. Upshot is that the Night Sister ship will continue to take apart the ore hauler to get what their outlaw tech needs while they wait for us to send them their sister. We will work on taking out the reavers, make sure the Night Sisters don't learn about the missiles, and get the Night Sister reaver back to her fellow sisters in quarantine status. I share what weaknesses Captain Fare Emberblade shared with me so that the team on the ship is prepared.
Vanya calls me to inform me of the fact that the Night Sister reaver will not survive and that Thrawn has declared war on the Night Sisters without telling them. The reason she is a reaver is due to the cybernetic implants that are continuously injecting the virus which does not allow the innoculation to fight back. There is no hope for the reaver sister to survive and Vanya suggests that I communicate that immediately and ask them politely to take out the monitoring ship that Thrawn almost certainly has in the area. I contact Captain Emberblade and share the information about her sister's impending death and that Thrawn is the one responsible and how he is responsible. She thanks me for the information and agrees to take out the monitoring ship on her way out of the system after they complete their salvage operations. She offers to share the spoils, but I decline even though Spook is NOT happy about that. I call Vanya about and tell her that I took care of that assignment. Zaye and I keep the sister's ship on sensors so that we can verify they leave and that there is hopefully an explosion at some point.
