Convenient Cave

We all pile into Starrise Falcon as Spacer's Tears is within system and will only be a short hyperspace hop. We gather what we think we will need and take off in less than an hour. We emerge from hyperspace in a high orbit an approach the planet - if you can really call this a planet and I head to the same spaceport I used before. I am hailed by the BSS comm tower and give my registration and reason for visit which I claim to be a vactaion to show my family. Docking Bay t34 on Tower R-7 (righteaous seven) at Curolis Sattion. I give the team a brief to fill them in on the fact that I got Starrise Falcon from one of the lower levels and that we need to hit the local bars to get some intel. I mention that I have some contacts, but I don't want to call on them unless necessary.
 
As we land, we see a lot of light freighers zooming around and mining ships heading into the lower levels. We disembark and head towards the cantina I was at before, the Radiant Deadapult. The rest of the crew are imprssed by the sign, but we continue in to get food, drink, and the lay of the land. Vanya and Davish get some comfort food and drinks and are looking for a way to get information on research stations. Ktt Kat and Danar buy some super expensive booze and start looking for fun and games. So'Zen sits at the bar and gets into trouble.
 
My family sit in a quiet booth with food and drink. I give a quick synopsis of what happened before and what I saw and how I got the Starrise Falcon. I check with Spook first to see if she has been able to get into contact with any of our previous contacts. She hasn't been able to as they all appear to have moved. Also not getting any hints on Jem Vandross. I then torn to Zaye to get her impressions and she is surprised by no Hutt prescence on the planet. So much mining and interesting anomolies. I have Spook send her the maps we made during our last visit of the top four levels and she points out that the abandoned research stations are still in very good repair which hints at shadow ports. We determine that soem investigation is in order as that would be a prime area for a Hutt to be working. I then ask what we should do with the children and I abstain from that decision making as we aren't quite there in our relationship yet. She agress to let Spook babysit so we book a room for them to be tucked away safely. I give Spook some pointers for babysitting by letting her know that Weha would enjoy a fencing game and Kualia is very much into scientific endeavors and wants to build her own droid. They trundle off.
 
So'Zen leaves and comes back and moves over behind us and whispers that there are two hutt on planet, Bareesh and Merl. That name of Merl gives Zaye pause and I have to question it. She says that he is unique among the hutts for his appraoch to life and the pursuit of happiness. We really don't want to get tangled up, but he is a huge fan of Jedi Quest and even writes fanfic. We will be much safer with the Jedi as he will be fascinated by them. We all finish our business at the cantina and walk at as a group to get on to a rock hopper. As we are flying down a level we begin sharing our information. Rumors of a clone war era researh facility that everyone wants to find seems to be a focus of activity according to the port master. There is also a chance that Merl the hutt and Jem Vandross share the same interests so that might be the one who has been moving him around.
 
Vanya is sitting behind me and occasionally points a direction based upon her senses. So'Zen offers his coaster and we follow the coordinates which takes us to Drodin Station. Vanya thinks we should go to a lower level until she suddenly stops and says no, we need to land here and then take a down elevator. I mention that the lava tubes would be dangerous and so Vanya starts talking to Almon to see if there is a way to make them safe enough for us to travel. He then tells us all about the ion races that are being run there. Then Vanya points to the map as to where she feels Rico is and it is actually a base on the bottom of the continent we are one. Almon says it was not a place he was allowed to investigate and that the hutts had no interest in. Vanya asks for input from our infiltration specialists as to how to get there and Davish suggests a maintenance shaft that would get us there without having to go through the lava ion tubes. Kit Kat starts investigating and finds a level 12 security block which he considers a challenge - ACCEPTED!
 
There is a lot of conversation behind me which includes science, archeology, geography, history, government and who knows what all else. The upshot is that I chose to fly us under the continent so we can just go look at what is down there. I will of course be running passive sensors to track what might be aiming at us. The base is clone era, but is suspended updise down on the bottom of the continent. There is a low power signature and the base is actually do a passive sensor sweep at the same time. We are blocked by a rock outcropping, but we will need to move after the scan passes us. The scan does show a lava tube nearby that is not tied to Merl's enterprise AND it has a cave just inside the entrance. I time the ion flares and swoop from our hiding spot into the cave. The shuttle settles down and we are in a very humid environment which is not what I would have expected.
 
So'Zen tells me that we are in the mouth of a creature and we need to move now. Zaye leans over and gives me a kiss for luck. I take off and as I get closer to the edge of the cave, the edge sttarts to collapse and it becomes obvious that we are inside something! As we are exiting an ion flare is approaching and Vanya puts her hands on the hull and begins to work on the saving us from the energy spike and then a blue tendril wraps around the viewport and then another one as the shuttle is turned and a purrgil is looking directly into the viewport straight at me and Zaye!
