Zcarazas Plains
Geography, Location & Climate
The Zcarazas Plains are located on the very Western Coast of Unuth, bordering both the Dragon Forest and the Unuth Red Desert. The plains is the third most southern biome in Unuth, behind the Dragon Forest and the Dark Umbrella Forest.
The Zcarazas Plains are characterised by extreme heat and dryness; similar the the Unuth Red Desert in the north. Very little rivers and streams etch their way through the cracked ground, infiltrated with moss and algae that grow in concentrated clumps throughout the dry lands.
Where the plains aren't covered in thick grasses, hills rise up. These naked lumps on the ground are void of any and all flora, thanks to toxic substances underneath that have poisoned the soggy underground.
Fauna & Flora
The Zcarazas Plains are full of life despite it being a difficult environment and climate to live in. Countless bird species inhabit the skies, flying through the clouds to protect them from the searing heat of the sun. The cracks in the ground are typically inhabited by small reptile species also trying to escape the temperatures during the day.
Night-time is when most animals come to life. Temperatures decrease about twenty degrees and become tolerable for the animals of this plains. The majority of life in the Zcarazas Plains are nocturnal or at least crepuscular.
Even the flora life is mostly nocturnal. Many plants will go into hiding by retreating into their stalks, and blooming as the sun sets. Most plants in the Zcarazas Plains are fruit-bearing, including the many grass species that grow on the dry ground.
History
These plains have been inhabited by slimes for almost a thousand years. The first settlers appeared roughly 850 years ago, and formed a very small settlement on the southern coast of the Zcarazas Plains, near the Ophiel Quarry that would be set up three years later.
The Ophiel Quarry was built in an effort to gather masses of rare resources to be sold around the planet, traded with other civilisations that were blooming at the time. The stone gathered from this quarry were not common and were used to barter for other valuable resources. The settlement of slimes, now known as Gelatown, is constructed almost entirely out of marble, the main stone gathered from the Ophiel Quarry.
In modern times, Gelatown has become a bustling city, but never losing its town-themed name. Gelatown has a current population of about 50,000, and is the largest settlement in the Zcarazas Plains. The Gelatin Port on the coast has cargo shipping routes that reach the furthest corners of the planet, and bartering resources still continues to this day with other major cities in other continents.
