Uaelor (You-ah-lore)

Uaelor is one of the five continents on Osao. Despite having a number of incredibly toxic biomes, the continent is one of the most populated.

Geography & Climate

Uaelor contains five different coloured biomes: red, orange, yellow, teal, and light blue. It is the least diverse continent in terms of environments, not biomes, as the majority of the landmass is covered in arid landscapes.

In the northeastern corner of Uaelor is a yellow coastal coralspike biome. Like all yellow biomes, this place consists of pillars of stone, coated in various yellow corals. West of this biome are the Burning Slopes, the Carrot Lands, and the Nylis Meadows, three large orange biomes. Separating all three of these biomes is the suitably named Uaelor Red Desert.

South of the Carrot Lands is the Epithelial Rhym, a large light blue biome. It is characterised by thin strips of wet, slimy rock all layered on top of each other, reaching thousands of metres into the crust. Surrounded almost entirely by the Epithelial Rhym is the Blubber Dun, a large teal biome formed on a single hill. It shares a similar geology to the Epithelial Rhym,

but the only difference is that the Blubber Dun is a single layer of squishy rock, with a small lake right at the top of the hill.
Osao is a rocky planet in the Kurhira System, one of eleven. It is characterised by an entirely tropical climate, with average temperatures (Celsius) in the forties, year round.   Five continents make up the majority of dry land on Osao. These five continents are home to perplexing lifeforms, intriguing peoples, and gorgeous sceneries.

History

Uaelor has not been inhabited for long, but despite that it is now one of the most populated continents on the planet. The first settlers arrived about a thousand years ago, after discovering that the environments, which are normally toxic to most animals, have zero effect on slimes. Because of their physiology which is so different from any other animal on the planet, the toxins in the soil, air, and water don't negatively affect slimes.

Because of this, and their reliance of slime in their diet, the slime population was able to boom. Civilisations developed rapidly, faster than any other place on the planet, and in a hundred years their technologies rivalled other slime civilisations that were thousands of years old. Even now, Uaelor remains the most developed continent on the planet, as the first scientists to have discovered space travel were all born in Uaelor.

Biota

Because of the toxicity of the environments in Uaelor, there is little life on this continent. Those that do live here are primarily invertebrates, as they can adapt much faster than vertebrates can. Nimble fingers are a small moth species that live as a caterpillar for 10 weeks, becoming a moth on the final day of their short lives. These hawkmoths are a common species that have learnt to absorb the toxins and use it for energy.

Uaelor hosts very few flora species, too. There are only 305 recorded flora species in Uaelor in all the biomes combined, making for an average of just 38 unique flora species in each different biome.
