Manimal

Traumatized man creatures...

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Manimals look like if you stretched a human skin unceremoniously over an animal shape. While their bodies can have varying degrees of distortion their faces are consistently warped and distorted.
There are a myriad of animal types that can have this process occur but by far the most common variations of Manimal are Hawk, Buffalo, Cougar, Boar, Bear and Donkey. One of the rarest variations of Manimal is Snake because while they were prolifically created they drew an especially disgusted attention from Gamers. Manimals had their clothes distorted with their bodies so they still wear whatever it was that they were wearing before becoming glitched (mostly farmhand or cowboy themed apparel). Manimals mostly accessorize to augment their appearance post becoming glitched with hats, collars and horn adornments. The older a Manimal gets the more their facial features, especially the nose, start to regain humanlike definition though in a bulbous manner that is unlike human or animal.

CULTURE

The Glitch that gave Manimals self awareness was when a referencing error applied human models to the animations of an animals. Though there was a huge boon of Manimals created in this fashion a large amount of them did not make it through the journey to the Oob. Being uniquely apparent and overtly strange, Manimals drew a lot of Gamer attention and found themselves sought out and tormented. Many Manimals have tragic tales of being the only one not shot out of the sky or barely escaping as Gamers hunted them through the forest. Having survived such traumatic beginnings many Manimals are slow to trust and quick to suspect ill intent. This deep feeling of victimization has even lead some Manimals to exert abusive control over others as pirates and slavers. A Manimal has the same capabilities and strengths as the animal they were stretched over (if they were applied over a bird they can fly and if they were applied over a cougar they are run very quickly). They also accumulate some peculiar habits associated with their animal like nesting or licking to clean themselves.

INSPIRATION

Manimals were inspired by a glitch that often occurred in Red Dead Redemption where the NPC models would be applied to animal game characters.
