Lopoly
A people designed to be far away...
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Lopoly are skittish and often awkward Nipik. The body of a Lopoly is built from stretched angular shapes that look more convincingly humanoid the farther away from them you are. Since their eyes are often on differing sides of a harsh angle it is common for a Lopoly to look at things with one eye and then turn their head to look at it with the other (kind of like a parrot). Many things about them look more natural the farther away from them you get including the way they move. Their stride doesn't quite match the actual distance they walk and is unsettlingly robotic. To be able to speak audibly a Lopoly must cleave their head shape into two pieces to facilitate a speaking state. This is process is mostly done at the point where the mouth is depicted in their textures but sometimes urgency or lack of skill has made this break occur elsewhere. The younger a Lopoly is the more their textures are pixelated or unfocussed but as they age their textures become crisp and detailed which makes their angular physique all the more bizarre.CULTURE
The Glitch that allowed Lopoly to become self aware was one of mindless exploration. Like a sheep venturing too close to the edge of a cliff to get grass and falling the Lopoly simply fell into the Oob and gained intelligence as they dumbly tried to sort out what had happened to them. Many of the first Nipik to explore the Oob were Lopoly. Since their original function was to act as simple background elements Lopoly are often uncomfortable with attention and will shy away from someone who spends too much time looking a them. They easily find themselves lost in thought or forgetting that they exist at a capacity that requires input. Some overcorrect for this and will clumsily fight for the spotlight but it comes from a place of not wanting to forget they can act on the world. Most Lopoly are curious and easily overlook what they do as affecting others because their time as background Mobs so thoroughly predisposed them to a lack of participation.
