Magicians' End

The realm of Magicians' End is famed for the spectacular astronomical configuration of its three large moons, Lumina, Celestria and Triquetra, whose orbital dances produce a complex pattern of tides in the oceans below. This celestial setting is explained in more detail in the article on timekeeping within the realm.   The planet itself, consists of four substantial continents, each with a number of significant offshore islands and one smaller north polar land mass. Together they divide the oceans into several seas and bays of varying sizes, the most significant of which are listed in the articles linked below, but others can be found on continental maps.   The largest continent is called Myruthea. It lies in the northern hemisphere and is the location of the earliest cities built on this world, the ruins of which can be found on the now desiccated, but once fertile north western plains.   Punjuki, the second continent is the only one wholly located in the southern hemisphere and stands south and somewhat to the east of Myruthea over the Equatorial Sea. Tinturbean lies to the west and north of Myruthea, whilst the smaller subcontinent of Zisleth (really hardly more than a large island) occupies the north polar region.   Finally, there is the supernatural land some call Novanoir but most people know by the popular name of the Dark Domains. The Dark Domains were created in the year zero APC as the most significant side effect of the Planar Conformation. They straddle the equator to the west and south of Tinturbean.   Links to detailed articles about each location which are shown at the bottom of the page are ordered using the Old Pale Empire lines of longitude that started from Honirham and according to the position of the point furthest west for any specific geographic feature. The list proceeds from west to east, travelling into the dawn until it circles back round to Myruthea. It should be noted when considering this convention that parts of the Equatorial Sea and the Klokken Ocean separate Punjuki from the Dark Domains because they both have extensive west to east dimensions, much longer than either of those continents. The list is purely concerned with the most westerly point of each feature to assign a meaningful order but not necessarily the most helpful one for all purposes. The maps of the different continents will help to clarify the relationship between locations.   There are also two rather arbitrary ordering decisions. The Equatorial Sea can be thought of as encircling the whole equator, but in day to day maritime usage, it almost always refers only to the stretch of water between Myruthea and Punjuki and has been treated as such for purposes of constructing the list. Similarly, Zisleth and its encircling sea, the Zisleth Shelf, which standing at the north pole, encompass all lines of longitude, are shown at the end of the list in a purely arbitrary convention. There is no significant land mass or named sea at the southern pole.

Fauna & Flora

Magicians' End is home to many interesting species of plants and animals across its continents and seas. The ranges of these flora and fauna rarely or never span the entire planet and so individual articles are linked to the specific regions which the species inhabits and they will be shown within the sidebar of the relevant regional article(s). The full lists below brings together all the documented species, whether native or not that can be found somewhere in the evolution.
