The Unbound
The Unbound were a cult of mages which arose towards the end of the 31st century during the Time of Terrors.
They advocated the use of Synaptic Unbinding Potion not simply as a practical means of enhancing arcane powers but as a source of spiritual insight.
Led by a figure they called the Deep Perceptor, the Unbound grew slowly throughout the 32nd century. They were probably involved in some capacity in the assassination of Tobias Golkin, the Provost of the Free Union of Magical Scholars in 3113 APC. He had been a noted opponent of the uncontrolled use of Synaptic Unbinding Potion.
They were certainly behind the sudden shortage of Synaptic Unbinding Potion known as the Synaptic Squeeze which affected all magic users at the end of the 32nd century APC and into the first half of the 33rd.
It was during this period that they began a centuries long conflict with the Sisters of Vabatan which would only end with the complete obliteration of both groups in the fateful events that brought the Time of Terrors to an end.
