Uses, Products & Exploitation

Klapperfish, once considered worthless are one of the nocturnal sea species which has been fished in and around Nephatar since the Age of Famine, when the absence of the usual bigger day time catch forced innovative fisherfolk to cast finer mesh nets at night in the search for something else to sell to the hungry markets of the city.   The fish have a natural tangy savour to their flesh which is not to everyone's taste, but which some do very much enjoy. Whilst it can be cooked in a variety of ways it is most often made into a red paste and eaten spread on biscuits or bread with pickles.
